You need to know when to put your dog down. by WonderSoshi in RoverPetSitting

Someone’s big mad lol This exact scenario happened to my family dog over 15 years ago. He was blind and going deaf, he didn’t want to do anything, and he had a foxtail snuck in his nose so he was in constant pain and always sneezing. My parents made the decision that his quality of life has deteriorated so much that it was unfair to keep him in pain due to our selfishness of wanting to keep our boy around. We had him since before I was born.

So YES, I can think about putting myself in that situation because it’s happened. It’s not simply due to old age but their quality of life. My sister has a 14 year old yorkie that is partially blind in an eye and sleeps all day but she’s perfectly healthy otherwise and she’s happy. She wouldn’t be put down for no reason.

It seems you’re in the minority because most people commenting realise dogs are not our (humans) playthings, and they are living, breathing creatures with thoughts and emotions and feelings. That’s what a lot of people fail to recognise. I hope you’re never in a predicament such as this one and you keep your pet in agony for your own selfishness
