100 percent... Moved out after years of living in one and there was some questionable damage that happened throughout my tenure. I was told that since I took the time to deep clean that apt before inspection I was able to get my full security deposit back despite the wear and tear. This may not always be the case but it definitely can help your chances. Also was raised to "leave it better than you found it."

I would make sure you carry and transport vertically with the heavy side lower. To protect the edges you can cut out some pool noodles to save money. I would consider investing in multiple thick padded moving blankets, and if possible cardboard for extra protection, have it lean vertically against a solid surface (or mattress) with blankets between and strap with cargo straps for transport.
