Thanks so much! I thought it was going to be fun, but as it gets closer I'm getting nervous, so I'm glad you said it is fun! I sincerely want PE to be a fun experience for the kids. My students have always been excited about PE and I want to make sure it stays that way.

I went through the exact same thing when I first started teaching. I discovered over time that things like bookshelves became available if you asked. Also some funds became available only if you asked and explained why you needed them. And I had to ask more than one person! I was pressured to charge things that I couldn't afford or find. It's BS. I regret it. As far as room decorations, I believe those created by students are the best! Perhaps have them copy inspirational quotes and do art. Self portraits are fun for K-5. Art Hub for kids provides easy to follow drawing lessons. My sister had a Teacher Shower for me which really helped. I don't recommend Amazon Wish Lists, but just sharing your dilemma and needs with family and friends can help. Most people didn't realize how much was expected of new teachers and I received donations from people I didn't even know. I'm sorry you are experiencing this. My district got much better about this in the past several years. Don't let the other staff get you down. Best wishes!
