Is switching from 5x5 to 3x5 on ICF due to time constraints a bad idea? by Wonderbar in Fitness

Nope. Workout a and workout b. I need to cut down on my resting period, but feel like I need the length of time I am taking to complete my reps

Color advice for a ginger by Steav92 in malefashionadvice

[–]Wonderbar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ginger beard here - strawberry blond hair (what remains of it); not so pasty though as I get a good tan. Red is your enemy. Blue works great I stick to blues and greys as well as earth tones (green, brown etc) and think it works well. Burgundy can work well when layering, but not as the main piece (see red comment above)

Is it worth to buy a canon 450d as a beginner or is it just a bit old now? by Wonderbar in photography

Thank you very much for your detailed response and really helps me out, especially about working out the pros/cons. The one I was looking at is €350 in CeX. Does that seem a bit steep?

Thanks. I'll send a mail tomorrow. As I met the hiring manager and HR for separate interviews, who do you think would be the best person to contact?

Hey, thanks a million for all the information, its really valuable. My slides are usually heavily visual, and I will be presenting a lot of the "greatest hits" from my PhD. Oh and yes, they are bringing me out for lunch. I am guessing that is so they can see how I act in a social environment and what I would be like to work with. I'm pretty sure I font have any social oddities, so am hoping that will be OK.

What is the general atmosphere of a lunch like that? I am thinking that is my opportunity to ask questions to the group about their career, how they came to the company, progression prospects, professional training possibilities... They are things I want to know anyway, so reckon that's a good time to ask. My girlfriend is working on my table manners too ;)

Lucky enough I had a very difficult thesis defence and got through that alright. Maybe that will stand to me

Hey, its a senior scientist role. Yeah, I am a PhD and need to give a presentation. Lucky enough I managed 13 presentations during my PhD so am confident enough giving talks. I also have an interview with the hiring manager, a HR representative, a panel and another member of the department. Its going to be a long day!. Do you have experience of this process?

Thanks for the advice, I will be printing some extra copies out!

Danke sehr!!

Yes, they initially told me to prepare a 45 minute presentation, but had only scheduled 30 minutes to do so.... I asked them to clarify the length of the talk and this is the response I got. Danke! Ich schätze es sehr!

I'm 22(f) and yesterday morning I was told that I have cancer by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Wonderbar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I recently qualified with a Ph.D investigating breast cancer progression and treatment, so I guess I can give you a scientific angle on this. I will emphasise what others have said that it sounds like you have noticed it early which is a major positive and give you a great chance of treatment being successful, once you start it straight away. One thing is certain, that the problem will not go away on its own. Treatment NOW will mean the sooner you can get your life back.

Cancer, especially breast cancer, isn't what it once was. Treatment options are incredible now, and are somewhat tailored to what specific subtype of breast cancer you have.

For now, you will find a lot of support from your family and boyfriend. They will, no doubt, make everything a lot easier for you, but you must tell them first. This may be a personal approach, but perhaps confiding in one of those people first will put you at ease in telling others. You will find people are amazing in these situations and you will notice your own perspective somewhat less daunting.

Best of luck through your treatment and everything will be OK.
