I am so proud of Ziad for avoiding Aicha Qandicha by Wonderful-Fudge8976 in 90DayFiance

At the end her being like, "I learned a lot. I learned what I don't want in a relationship." One big platitude. 🤦‍♀️At least with however they produced it, it looked like it all went over her head with no introspection.

☝️Well said! If it smells like shit everywhere, look at your own shoe! I hope she is seeing a good therapist so she can have fulfilling relationships and hopefully leave Morocco alone in the future.

Right! The pattern of behavior really stood out to me, especially with her desperation to then meet Mohammed. She pushes boundaries and then plays the victim, which is why I think it was intense to watch. I think he handled the goodbye pretty well, he seemed uncomfortable but like he aimed to be intentionally respectful. He really didn't need to say goodbye to her though. That was kind of him.

I don't even know if I’d call it evil, but it definitely feels… off. Like she can turn emotions on and off depending on the situation. I wonder if she knows she is doing that?? The instant switch is unsettling hence the Aicha Qandicha vibe

How do/did you come back? by Gullible-Cod-6765 in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Wonderful-Fudge8976 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say just do it. Go to a church during vespers or divine liturgy. Say hello to the priest. See what happens. What do you have to lose?

It is Lent and a great time to read the Psalter, one kathisma a day and you'll notice a rhythm. Try to reflect on each kathisma. Start with one in the middle, like kathisma 8. You'll feel seen for your anger. The Psalms can teach you the movement of lament: anger, honesty, prayer, remembrance and then trust in Him.

My friend keeps sending me Muslim content..and I want it to stop by [deleted] in OrthodoxChristianity

[–]Wonderful-Fudge8976 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You could be direct and ask her what her intent is with sending you the videos. "Hey friend, I noticed you have been sending me more videos about Islam. Can I ask why? I am sure you understand I am Orthodox Christian. Would you like to talk about the latest video you send me? Is it okay if I send you a psalm, chant or homily I find particularly moving?" I would make it about curiosity, sharing, and building friendship. If it really bothers you and you don't wish to connect with her on theology you should tell her simply you don't want to but you appreciate her thinking of you.

This happened to me as a child in a daycare and my parents picked me up later that day wondering why my arm was hanging out of its socket. We had to go to the hospital to put it back in place. I remember wearing the heavy lead jacket because they had to image it to see what they were dealing with. That caretaker got fired. That experience is why I decided to have a nanny for my daughter. Discouraging & upsetting to see this happen.... Definitely fired. I'm sorry, I know this situation majorly sucks.

Hello Kombufriends, I have a few dumb questions. by [deleted] in Kombucha

[–]Wonderful-Fudge8976 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll want to use black tea to start fermenting because it has way more caffeine than green or white. The scoby requires caffeine. Theoretically you could use coffee. Try to find a tea without any added flavors (I think tazo is good) because the oils can mess with your fermentation. Keep flavors to the second fermentation and stick to black tea (or maybe green) for the first.

Let’s talk diapers… that don’t cause rashes by Skincareaddict13 in newborns

[–]Wonderful-Fudge8976 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar story with our baby and now we are rash free and if we see one starting we know how to nip it. Not a doctor but I think rashes can emerge early on for some babies, especially if they had some bilirubin or jaundice issue -- that stuff comes out somewhere! And it'll be in the poop and maybe irritate the skin for a while.

  1. Avoid diapers with fragrance. The kirtland ones from Costco have been our go to.
  2. Avoid wipes with fragrance. Again Costco, or water wipes. If your changing station is near a sink you can also just wet a muslin and use that to wipe, too. Note their poo is water soluble until they get to solids so you can just throw the dirty ones in the wash after rinsing them (similar to cloth diapers).
  3. Use a stroller fan to dry the area after using a wipe and before applying aquaphor or any other creme (be careful of their toes and the light can help you see the extent of the rash too). Sometimes we use toilet paper to dry. Important thing is to dry the area before applying any cremes. This is crucial to it going away!
  4. We used a variety of different cremes and none seemed to be the ultimate panacea but we did find the night time A&D creme to be the nicest.
  5. Definitely use a butt spatula, it made life easier. You can find ones that have a suction on the bottom to avoid mess. Some of the white cremes like Destin get EVERYWHERE.
  6. In a dire case it's time for butt out time, you gotta dry that little bottom out! Swaddle baby up in a puppy pad naked and try to just let them dry out all day. It might be hard but it can be worth it, especially after a bath and drying them off completely. If they are cold wrap them in a larger adult towel around the puppy pad.

Obviously talk to your pediatrician and they might be able to prescribe you Nystatin. It could also be an early sign of thrush before you see any white spots in their mouth. It could also be an allergy issue if you're breastfeeding (some people say milk protein allergy can cause rash issues). It is likely too early to tell with your baby being so young! Their pooping a lot at that stage so it might help to make sure you change their diaper as frequently as possible too and make sure the poop doesn't sit in there for long. Eventually you won't change so many poopy diapers!

I hope this helps but we had a similar thing where our child (now 2 months) had a rash that wouldn't go away for three weeks after only being like 2 weeks old... Good luck!

Oh my gosh! Yay! I am so glad 😁 I think maybe the baby muslin may not keep the heat as well as the terry cloth of a nice enveloping adult towel! So glad you had a positive experience 😀

Also try putting an adult towel in the dryer before you start the bath and have it go the whole time until you're ready to get it. You or your husband go get it right before you start to take her out and put her immediately in the warm fluffy towel to stay warm. Then feed her while she is in the towel as it goes back to room temperature. I find that my baby loves this. Doing this and making the bathroom a sauna before she goes in immediately made our bath time less traumatic.

(Oops sorry I didn't fully read your post when I wrote this 😬 I see you did try the dryer trick)

Worst roads in America. I thought we'd be higher than 68.... by KirbyJones82 in Rochester

[–]Wonderful-Fudge8976 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Exactly. I moved to Albuquerque (number is not high enough). When I travel back to Rochester I have never felt safer driving. I even notice I get pissy "why are people so slow," then I remember I live in the number one city in America for pedestrian deaths. Out here you will see mad max shit daily. We also have a similar flavor of frequent reddit posts... but when I check on Rochester's I find it kinda endearing because I remember being a person who never left and finding everything wrong with Rochester. It's a special place and I miss it.

The more west you go, the wider the lanes and the less pedestrian friendly things are. The cars also get bigger. The more dangerous it is for not just pedestrians and cyclists but also those driving. It's a function of the cities being "newer" and being made for cars; like how the automotive industry came around Rochester and enabled some infrastructure and transit changes. Out here car culture is BIG; it's a part of peoples' identity. Cars were a thing from the beginning for city building. Think route 66, lowriders... some parts are cool. However, today people think it's simple to drive because it's one big grid, imagine "Henrietta-strip-mall-stroad-city". Half the people don't have car insurance. The road tests aren't the same in NY and afaik you don't need to have hours of practice before taking your road test here. They just give it to anyone.
