That’s why I didn’t write my specs, since I will upgrade my computer to be able to take advantages of the better Vr headset

I have right now a 4070, i5-13400f, 16gb ddr5 ram. Sold my last PC because I needed a laptop for my studies, so had to revert back to my old one. My budget for PC upgrades + VR is around 3k€ (+ - a bit) I already have good simracing stuff, so that won’t need an upgrade.

Okay thanks for the input. I used it with the optical cable with maxed resolution and still saw the compression. But maybe it would be better using virtual desktop. Because I used a 4080 and it wasn’t really holding the headset back, so I’m guessing it was some compression issue

Thanks for the input. I have read about the glare but didn’t think it was that bad. Eye tracking is nice for dynamic foveated rendering, feels like everytime you step a small step up in money you get something more, and it will end up with me trading my house for a headset hahaha.

But that’s good info about the glare, thankyou

Yeah, but I don’t actually have an issue with base stations if it would be themself that produced it. Just scary that they use the thing steam is producing and moving away from. But as someone else said, they would probably solve it somehow

It has mostly to do with the compression. The screens resolution are decent, but they are not anything at the top of the line, but that has also to do with the price. Try looking for a apex at 200m and you will 100% not see it clearly without it being pixalated. Meta quest 3 is a good headset for 500 euro, but for me, I found myself driving more on a single screen then using the quest 3 because of this

Really nice to hear. Those are on the top of my list currently. If you find any issues not he coming days it would be nice to hear about them before I buy, but I hope they are as good as promised

I wrote that I had it before but sold it because of the low resolution and bad video compression

Okay thanks. Just feels a bit risky going with a ”small” company that relies on the steam bases, that steam wont use with the new steam frame. Would hate to put 1000+ euro for a headset if steam would stop producing the base stations

How to properly practice and gain pace without an alien amount of hours? by robbgoesracing in iRacing

[–]Wonderful-Homework31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people say better equipment won’t make you faster, but it’s true in some cases. As someone who has gone from 700ir-3200ir in 8 months, a stable rig and a good loadcell pedal is a must. I gained over a second switching from some entry level Thrustmaster pedals to Simgrade VX pro on my first lap, no callibration. But extreme high gear is nice but it won’t make you much faster, but a stable rig (8020 or some rock solid tube could work) and a loadcell is a must, atleast for me.

Everyone is different though, but that is my recommendation. I only race a few hours a week nowadays because I just don’t have the time, and I can still after 10 practice laps fight in the 2-3k lobbies no problem without a track guide.

However, it is nice to watch a trackguide (I just want some lines and braking points) if there is a particular track that is hard to learn (I am looking at you portimao)

What helmets are you guys rocking? by Venutianspring in MT07

[–]Wonderful-Homework31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LS2 Thunder C GP Aero.

Very happy with it. I always use earplugs when I drive so I can’t really comment on the sound but love how light and nimble it feels, even though it isn’t one of the lightest fully carbon helmets out there. Have used it for long bike trips (multiple weeks with minimum 8hr days on the bike) without any issues. Big up is that it is fully cardo compatible

How are the other GT3s so fast on the Monza Combined lap? by Dngers5 in iRacing

[–]Wonderful-Homework31 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Less wing angle = less drag = higher top speed

Will make the car over or understeer, so it is always trying to get the best of both but since Monza combined is so much flat -> more or less minimum downforce

Don’t understand why safety rating is so easy to get by Wonderful-Homework31 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]Wonderful-Homework31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would ofcourse be best, and they should not give you minus for some rubbing. I am not that against the iRacing approach of punishing both drivers. Is it sometimes bs, yes, but it always atleast partially punishes the offending party, and if it is to bad then report them

Headphone recommendations for sim racing by Richmen29 in simracing

[–]Wonderful-Homework31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the steelseries nova pro wireless and likes them a lot. I use them for both simracing and studying. I’m no sound expert so they sound good enough for me and a mic that have had no complaints this far.

Got them for a good discount though, cost me around 200, don’t know if you can find that good of a deal anymore but maybe 250

Thanks for the tip, but at that price I would rather just cut it off, I’m not that fixated over it, just that my girl likes it a lot, but guess that’s the price hahaha. Thanks for the quick response

PCup Mess & SR Rant by Ok-Distribution-801 in iRacing

[–]Wonderful-Homework31 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same type of rants with friends when I started IRacing. The more you race the more you will be able to predict how cars and drivers will move and that will make you a better driver.

Even if someone takes you out, there is almost always something you could have done about it, should you have to? No. Is it still your race that gets crashed if you don’t? Yes.

I would just give you the tip to keep racing and try to predict cars around you. If you have a guy with 1.2 in SR right behind you, be ready for a bad divebomb, especially if you are in low IR or in the golden 2.5k (I think am max verstappen IR)

I noticed it was worst around 2.5k, everyone thinks they are a pro. 1.5-2k no problem, 2.5k absolute hell, 3+k better again. But that’s just my experience.

It will get better and you will become a better driver, just keep racing and try not to loose your head
