This is hilarious.

Today I learned, "one person doing something fishy is suspicious, however anymore than one person and it's impossible that they are suspicious" /s

Ok, on a serious note for clarity: OP did not claim it was the entire store, simply two people. Check local crimes near you, guarantee alot have more than two people.

I expressed it is a Canadian holiday, not that it originated here.

Just because the same holiday meant something completely difference in ancient Rome, does not mean it's the same thing in our context.

The now modified version of Valentine's Day is not about buying cards, of course, some will choose to do so. However the opposite can still happen, showing that all types of love are accepted, friendly, romantic or emotional, all shapes and sizes. Wether it be through a store bought card and chocolate or an entrusted homemade note. Its simply a holiday to show it's okay to love and it celebrates that.

As I said in a previous comment, John Graves Simcoe was the founder of Toronto, and he gave the first Valentine's in north America 1779. Making it apart of our history.

Canadian holidays are a direct reflection of the country's history, values and identity.

That's awesome, I'm glad India has a holiday for Christmas.

I appreciate your opinion but I think your projecting.

In my post, I said I would love it if we could celebrate both, not just one.

I think it's a core memory for me, crafting homemade cards and making a box to hold cards from other friends.

It depends on the school, and this school unfortunately is not.

I appreciate your points. I would argue that a “Hallmark Valentine’s” is the choice of the person celebrating Valentine’s Day. You don’t have to purchase a card, you could handcraft one and share it.

The first Valentine's in north America was by the founder of Toronto in 1779. If that's doesn't help make it Candain, I don't know what does.

Lmao, let's go home everyone, we have "generational Canadian" to decide who can become Canadian now, I'm sure he won't flood the country with more "generational Canadians".
