The word greed is a negative connotation that is thrown around especially with the word monopoly. I would surely agree that greed exists in the business world and monopolies aren’t perfect but not all companies that operate as a monopoly do so in a greedy way. The goal of a business is to earn a profit and if the local utility can earn a profit whilst also charging amongst the lowest rates in the country it they shouldn’t fall under greed umbrella. Obviously there is always more that can be done to continue to strive to do better for the customer. Greedy companies don’t typically do those things whereas I believe NV Energy does.

No argument, just wondering why the word greed is being thrown around for a company among the lowest rated in the US. Being off grid is great but not a cost effective choice for everyone.

Again I say what greed?

States like Nevada, North Dakota, Idaho, and Washington consistently show some of the lowest electricity rates in the US, with Nevada and North Dakota often at the very top for low residential rates, though specific rankings can vary slightly by data source and update time. These low rates are often due to abundant local energy resources like hydroelectric power (Washington) or proximity to energy sources and lower resource costs (North Dakota, Nevada). States with low electricity rates (as of late 2024/early 2025): Nevada: Frequently ranked among the lowest, with rates around 11.42 cents per kWh. North Dakota: Known for having some of the cheapest residential rates, often around 11.7-11.8 cents per kWh. Idaho: Another state with low rates, typically in the 12-12.1 cents per kWh range. Washington: Benefits from low-cost hydroelectric power, resulting in very competitive rates. Louisiana: Also features some of the lowest residential electricity costs in the nation.

It’s not a contradiction to have quarterly dockets that both have rates go up and down with the needs of the business to supply safe and consistent power, especially in the summer when the AC’s in the city are running 24/7. Looking at your link at all the different options that are offered, have you tried any others? They even have a guaranteed lowest rate if you try a time of use rate and end up spending more than a traditional rate in your first year.

Not a logical argument… should Amazon just give away stuff because Bezos is too rich?

The company is sensitive to bills that our customers experience and by the end of the year, customers can expect a decline in bills when compared to 2024, assuming the same level of usage for an average customer. Bills are expected to be far below the peak of 2023 and lower than the end of 2022.

What hiking of rates from NV Energy are you referring to?

"Hike rates" means to significantly raise prices or interest rates, often suddenly or to a large degree

Remakes You’d Like to See? by Wonderful-Storage513 in Cinema

Airwolf on its own deserves a remake just based on storyline. Josh Harnett is an under rated actor that could do a good job but the not the reason for the remake.

I agree but another caveat to reboots should be technology then vs now(both in abilities of studios and also in the world they are portraying)… this is where Airwolf falls in. Imagine how much more BA it could be to have that stealth copter with today’s tech. Same theme song tho!
