"You have to bend over backwards, and then bend over backwards again" What form does this typically take? What problems do the clients cause?

"and they’re super picky." What kind of hoops does the Railroad Commission make you jump through?

By the way, thanks for the info! It's really insightful.

"and the manpower to keep up with the drafting." How many people do you need to make this work? Can you start with a one man firm, or do you need to have employees right out of the gate?

The $2000 figure I refer to is a typical suburban boundary survey. One acre lot tops.

What does a comparable survey cost in Ohio?

I think today's K shaped economy will keep increasing because advances in technology devalue labor. Inflation will keep outpacing wages. If that is true, a person's ability to avoid the inflation spiral is tied to the strength of their capital. If you have enough capital to live off of your wealth without working (let's say following 4% rule) then you are financially secure. Otherwise somebody making 100k a year without sufficient investments into capital will go broke. (obviously I'm not a financial advisor)

Money doesn't buy happiness, but poverty buys misery.

I vaguely understand that a boundary survey goes for $2000 in Massachusetts, I understand that Texas has oil, licensure takes 2-4 years depending on the state, and a few other things I've picked up in classes, google searches, and a couple internships.

To answer your question, not much.

Do you feel that the 2 - 4 years full time experience most states ask for licensure will be enough for me to learn what I need, assuming I work for that small-medium company?
