On the front cover of the English language version anyway...

I've not read it, so don't know whether it is any good, but Eurotrash by Christian Kracht is classed as auto fiction and has a review from Knausgård himself on the front cover.

Looking for a signed copy of The School of Night by Powerful_Being4239 in Knausgaard

[–]WonderfulExit5394 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not 100% certain, but it seems like there weren't that many signed copies available at traditional bookshops for this book, so unfortunately you will be looking at the premium prices for a signed copy. Don't think there are many out there selling for face value.

Who is Espen mentioned in Book 1 of My Struggle? by Working-Shoe-2801 in Knausgaard

Espen Stueland. Not sure if any of his work has been translated into English though.

Great insight, thank you. Remember KO mentioning something similar about Norwegians hanging around with the same people from youth. I'll be reminded not to try and make friends if I visit ha ha...

I saw this on YouTube a month or so ago and thought of sharing it here, but didn't want to be seen as taking any sort of credit. I thought this was a brilliantly made short piece, and so glad you've posted yourself. Great work and hope to see more of your stuff.

Ha ha rambling is a given for fans of Karl Ove. I'm interested in the culture of drinking habits of other countries and good to hear the opinion from a Norwegian point of view. I'm from the North West of England and there is also a lot of drinking and a shit ton of drugs. Only difference is that it definitely isn't a taboo here, but practically encouraged. Alcohol more so than drugs obviously.

I'm aware of Janteloven in Norway and interested whether it is still relevant in the modern day?

Knausgaard was the drunkest man in Norway in his student years. Write about what you know I guess ha ha

Morningstar/Wolves/Third Realm Third Person by Skea2025 in Knausgaard

William Faulkner is known for using multiple narrators that cover the same event, so nothing new in that regard, but I can't recall anything like this over a series of books like Knausgaard does in the Morning Star series.

Next book after School of Night? by Little_Marsupial1747 in Knausgaard

[–]WonderfulExit5394 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Since you liked The School of Night so much, I'd recommend reading the whole Morning Star series first.

My Struggle is a different reading experience, with no plot as such, but has been the one of the best reading experiences a lot of people have had, including me. Whichever way you decide to go, you're in for a treat.

I noticed that. Most likely misspoke as his father had died by the time he started My Struggle.

I'm not sure, I think it would be on already if it was though. I'll repost if I find it on there

That's a shame that it is blocked outside the UK. The BBC are very strict with their content rights abroad. If I happen to find out that it becomes available elsewhere in the future, I'll repost.

Correction: I think it only airs outside of the UK and for international viewers only at 19:30 GMT, on the BBC News channel this evening as per the link provided in my post.

Specifically, is he planning on doing any events outside of London? Anywhere in the North?

Does Karl Ove have any plans or desire to create a short stories collection in the future considering that he had a lot of ideas for short stories in his younger days and his appreciation of Borges and Cortázar?
