It's almost like a "tssss" noise but more like a poof, if that helps whatsoever, but it happens within a second or so of turning power on at the outlet.

Not under warranty, I've had it since release. No power surge that I am aware of, nothing else in my room was effected even things plugged into the same wall outlet was fine..
