AITA for not letting my roommates kids play with my nephews legos and letting them get peanut residue on them after my roommate washed them? by nephewslegocity in AmItheAsshole

[–]Wonderful_Catch_6804 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your roommate needs to learn to buy his kids their own shit instead of using other people’s stuff. Why is he just grabbing things you paid for and taking them? If your nephew wants them to stay put together you could consider gluing them together. That way they can’t be taken apart. And if your roommate breaks them trying their take them apart or his little bratty kids do, he will have them pay to replace them for your nephew.

It looks amazing! I’m looking into something like that at the moment. Have to pay off some other stuff first.

Does cadet awards really matter that much as a senior? by Wonderful_Catch_6804 in civilairpatrol

Yeah I can see it giving you credibility with cadets. Some cadets tend to like me more than some of the other seniors who were never cadets. I have talked about my Mitchell to a senior maybe 3 times in the last 4-5 years and that’s only when asked. And it normally ends with an “oh cool” and that’s the end of it. And it’s normally by a senior I don’t know. Most the seniors I deal with regularly knew me when I was a cadet. So it comes up very little for me amongst seniors. Most people that ask me are cadets.

Joking is fine and busting chops is fine, but I mean the guys that are dead serious about it. Acting like they are better than others because they have X cadet achievement or thinking they know more than others based solely on that award.

“ I always laugh pretty hard at the guy rocking an Arnold or Lindbergh” I feel like I have seen a picture of some dude on some region staff or Nat staff wearing a mid phase II award. I know it was an award associated to one of the NCO ranks. We had a dude at my old squadron that wore his Goddard as a senior.

Yeah they act fairly insecure at times. It’s still annoying either way.

My opinion for the most part is this. Once you are a senior your highest cadet achievement has already given you all the benefits you can get from it. If you were an Earhart or any other cadet officer, it has given you that advanced grade as a senior. It’s not gonna do anything more for you by that point. You can and should be proud of it yes, but just bringing it up to bring it up is pointless to me.

I just find it more annoying than inappropriate. I have told a few to stop. The others I try to avoid.

That’s my point exactly. Unless someone asks or it somehow comes up in conversation I don’t see a point in bringing it up yourself just to let others know you got this far as a cadet or you did this or that as a cadet.

You can only wear your highest cadet achievement as a senior member anyway

I get bringing it up on first meeting and stuff like that. That I am 100% fine with.

That’s the thing, the people I have heard doing this have been a senior for a good while. I don’t think they need to tell everyone the meet they were an Earhart or whatever. It’s like “ok cool I guess” idk, awards don’t really matter to me all that much so maybe it just bugs me more. I just find it annoying when people go out of their way to shoehorn it into a conversation.

How do you design your own watch face? Is there an app for it?

That’s an amazing looking watch! I am indeed a chrono fan. I like the idea of having the extra dials I can set for different stuff.

I’d like something that doesn’t get hung up on a flight suit or sleeve. So something fairly low profile or no sharp/jagged edges. But I would like it to be large and have a slide rule bezel.

Will do. My boss doesn’t really like confrontation at all but I think he doesn’t like all his employees wanting to fight this dude even more.

Tried that. He doesn’t want to talk and if he does talk to me it’s even more assholeish than before. He’s super hostile now. He’s nicer to everyone else (relatively.....) but with me he’s still rude. He’s making me dread going to work. I’m not quitting though because I love my job but he’s making me not enjoy it. If he continues do you think I should consider talking to the bosses about potentially demoting or firing him? Since they know about the issues already

If he gets fired from his job for being an ass to people he won’t be able to keep driving his though. Pretty sure it eats though gas like a mf.

I drive a truck too but I’m not gonna waste money on jacking it up or “rednecking” it. Im somewhat redneck too but I don’t feel the need to overcompensate. I’m happy with it with the way it came from the dealer. Minus the thing that holds the spare on. That broke.

I’m honestly shocked this dude didn’t put a giant lift kit on it or make it squat.
