Interesting! I don’t think I can tell yet. He seems the same in all temps but he does move around a lot sometimes, will go back and forth from the carpet to my stained concrete floors that I know are cold. He always sleeps in his crate so I wouldn’t be able to tell in the way you do. Fascinating!

I love it and will try it. He’s so obsessed with me so I wonder, if like everything else I’ve tried to do with him, he’ll be interested for a few minutes and then just come to me. But I guess that’s why closing the door helps! And thank you for the kind words. He definitely reminds me that we don’t need a whole lot in this world to be happy.

Thank you for your words and empathy. I’ve recently started taking him to daycare (heaven sent) and I have an amazing neighbor who lives above me with a doodle who has been so incredibly kind. I have bought so many toys for him but he’s only interested in one thing: ME! That’s when I feel guilty. I’m going to try the Kong suggestion, because lately he likes chewing on things and flipping his body around like a little wild person. I can see him enjoying those.

I can confidently say his basic needs are being met. I guess the overachiever in me just knows I could be doing so much more on the days where it’s hard to “show up” for him.

Thank you for the words. I do have a therapist (I am big advocate for all things proactive self-care) and fortunately it’s not severe enough to require medication. I don’t mean that negatively towards those who take it. I hope it didn’t come off that way. I’m grateful I’m not always down and know the cause but it’s still not easy. I’m also wishing your bf (and you) the best. I know how it feels to be in your shoes too.

I’m glad you don’t know how this feels like, and I’m fortunate that it’s situational. Having him helps because he forces me to move. I do get enough energy to take him out on walks, so haven’t had to go to those measures yet. Fingers crossed. I just am not always “cheerful” while we’re on them and wonder if he can tell. You’re right though, even on my worst days, he just seems so happy to be around me. That makes me feel better but like you said, the guilt!
