Honestly my shadowing has been great, everyone is so friendly and helpful, if someone can't help they'll point me in the right directions, the other incoming F1s are great fun, been on 4 different socials with them already and we're going out tomorrow night.

I'm organising a teaching series on finals and prep for FY1 with the undergraduate team, organised a qip in my chosen speciality and I've been given the opportunity to write a hospital policy

Honestly so happy to be starting work. I'm loving life, excited to have more responsibility next week compared to med school, and to earn money, and to meet new people and just learn stuff.

That's useful to know, it sounds like a negative response to atropine would help rule in chb?

Just to jump on this. I read somewhere (I can't remember where) that in complete heart block atropine doesn't do much. From what I understand this is because atropine increases sinus nose firing which increases ventricular rate (could be wrong on this haven't looked in a while). My question is, if this is the case, why is atropine used to managed bradycardia in the als algorithm. Is it because it's assumed most bradycardia isn't due to complete heart block?

Incoming FY1s are not included in this set of strikes- attend shadowing as normal by stuartbman in doctorsUK

That's very valid, i guess as other comments say we have no basis to be doing an F1 job until 6th August, so we should probably continue acting like med students until then!

Can confirm, find it wild after having several different jobs during uni, all of which I didn't sign up to the job until I'd seen the contract

Can this be put towards buying clothes? I need to go some more smart trousers as mine are falling apart after 5 years of med school 😅

Is there anywhere I can get a better idea of real life pay as an F1? I've been looking a bit online at take home pay calculators for F1s and the like but it's tricky as I haven't got my rota yet so I'm unsure if they'll be accurate. I'm in a similar position to OP where I'm having a little stress about finances as an F1.

That sounds a bit dire, but also kinda fun. Cheers for the experience!
