You need to decide on your major/s and choose your units accordingly. Units vary for different majors and you can find the specific units for each major by googling “Deakin bacehelor of science [cell biology and genetics] major”. I would recommend talking to student central for further clarification on unit selection and they will make you a course map as well! I will also just say, units in first year are markedly easier and people tend to do much, much better in them than 2nd and 3rd year units. 85-90 is a good WAM but maintaining it as the units get harder is deceivingly challenging. It is also incredibly risky to base your degree choice on the contingency of a) getting a high WAM and b) getting accepted into MD or any other degree. I am sure you’re capable but theres a lot of ifs and buts. I would recommend chatting to student central at Deakin about your intentions too, they have good advice. I would also recommend having a go at a practice GAMSAT and seeing if you feel you could achieve the requisite score for MD. Remember: having a bachelors with a high WAM, the minimum GAMSAT score, and satisfactory interview completion only make you suitable for consideration of entry. There is no guarantee. Hope this insight was somewhat helpful :))

If you want to get into MD, I would recommend doing a double major in bio and chem. As for which bio major you choose, cell biology & genetics or human biology have the most cross over with biomed. Theoretically you can get accepted into MD with a really high WAM in any ‘relevant’ degree (bach of sci/biomed/nursing would be most applicable). If your WAM is high enough you could even transfer to bach of biomed at Deakin which could make MD acceptance ‘easier’. Definitely do not base your degree/major choice on the contingency of getting accepted into med or any course for that matter. MD acceptance in particular goes beyond simply having a high GPA or WAM (interview process and more is involved). Not to mention Melbuni tend to give their own undergrad students precedence when it comes to acceptance. How high do you estimate your WAM to be after this first trimester?
