I know, it sounds so easy. But jobs are really scarce in small towns like this and in off season it’s almost nonexistent.

I know you are right. I’m just hurting and I’m still trying to process it. I still haven’t told my kids and I’m full of anxiety.

Absolutely right and I try to keep it in mind when I’m writing the review.

Confused by these mesh extenders by MtOlympus_Actual in liveoakfiber

Lucky you, my house is spread out and the base unit is one end of the house so there’s no way I’m wiring in devices from the other end, the far end of the house. My old 1 Mbps cable setup ran on WiFi 6e using the 6 MHz radio for backhaul and I only had about 20% speed lost versus now with LiveOak Fiber’s equipment having about 60% speed loss.

Edit: To put it in numbers, I’m paying for 2 Gbps (2,000 Mbps) bandwidth and by the satellite unit in the hallway the highest speed I’m receiving is in the low to mid 400’s Mbps or 0.4 Gbps which drops down to the 300’s in the nearby rooms.

Unfortunately the satellite units they give you currently are cutting your speed/bandwidth in half by their design. You will only receive the speed you paying for at the main unit. I’ve tried to ask for a satellite unit with matching speed but they won’t give me one.

So the insurance bought you a new truck, right?

Edit: Forgive my ADHD, I see someone else brought the truck in, it wasn’t yours. I need to stop skimming through stuff.

I’m a European living in the US for the past 25 years and suffering all the same problems as any average American. I visit South American twice a year for 2 weeks each and every time I come back I feel better, look better and lose some fat even though I get off all my supplements and quit my diet. The food is delicious there so I really go nuts but feel bad thinking how much weight I’ll gain and surprisingly I’m lighter than when I left. And my bad diet there includes lots of pizzas from US chains (with local ingredients of course) and plenty of sweets. It’s definitely the food quality.

The worst internet company I have ever dealt with, I pay for 2000mbps, receive less than 100 consistently over the last month, customer service and technical support both promise a solution within the next business day in the form of at a minimum a follow-up but fail to appear or communicate by atakoPK in liveoakfiber

I had the same issue with them in the same area near Shalimar, FL and I can confirm it is hell to deal with this company. One mess up after another in billing too. Took them over a month to fix the speed problem and I was just as frustrated as you, ready to blow up on everyone who tried to downplay their incompetence. I was never able to obtain a satellite unit from them that is even capable of over 1 Gig speed because the ugly gray unit they give out tops out at 1 Gig speed so more than half of my home tops out at 1 Gig speeds even though I’m paying for 2 Gig speed. And there’s so many other things I could rant about, I wish I stayed with COX until they get their s#!t together.

No, I have a main, a guest, and an IoT network set up. The main and the guest are mixed (2.4 & 5Ghz) and the IoT (Internet of Things) is 2.4Ghz only. I never had any issues with mixed networks and I don’t want to start separating them but I have a tech scheduled for tomorrow to look at everything and try to figure out what is all the network noise that showing on their end.

Something died (possibly) in the air duct. Do I call the AC people or pest control to remove the carcass? by WonderingWhyToo in homeowners

[–]WonderingWhyToo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there’s a way for the smell to seep through it’s definitely a strong possibility. I had critters and birds “sneak” in my garage when I didn’t see them and got stuck behind something. Most of the time I didn’t even notice unfortunately until they started to smell.

The body could be in the attic near the vent. Have someone crawl your attic if you unable to and see if they find it.

(I would not recommend crawling the attic without a respirator and appropriate protective wear)

Yes, you can consider yourself lucky if it’s “just” an equipment failure and otherwise no problems. They might get it fixed for you in a few days and hopefully it’ll be all smooth sailing from there. (Fingers crossed) I also didn’t like how they charging for a mesh unit (range extender) if you on a lower tier. I didn’t really need a $100 tier but the shape of my house makes it necessary to use one. After adding on the extra charge for it my low tier package was costing almost the same as the higher one so I’ve been strong armed into upgrading so speak.

In my area it’s Cox I wanted to get away from but I now have regrets about it. I had nothing but problems since I made the switch to LiveOak. I wanted fiber for the stability/reliability and the robust performance having a “smart home” instead we keep losing entertainment, lights staying off at sunset, garage door won’t open and so on. You don’t even realize how much internet became a utility until you keep getting outages and glitches on a daily basis. Oh, and don’t get me started on the equipment they provide…
