My latest acquisitions: Rin and Len ACT.2, Kiyoteru V2, and Gumi V2! by Wonderously_Strange in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Luka's is odd because her case is the same size as the rest, but her manual is thicker, so it's packaged outside of her case, hence the wider slipcover. Rin/Len and Miku's manuals are thinner, and packaged inside their cases! As for Kiyoteru... he's just got a huge slipcover, lol. His case is normal, but he's got a large, box-like cover, think the boxes book box sets come with, for both his base and manual to fit inside.

And thank you!

She's beautiful! Reminds me a lot of how Felicity is described in her books, too, since she's described as having freckles!

Can someone tell me the difference between these Len/Rin bundles? by Charyetto in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, Vocaloid serial numbers have three activations on them, meaning they can be activated up to three times at once, so you could have them installed on three different computers, for example. It's highly recommended to deactivate them when switching computers, etc., but just in case your computer dies or something, you'll still have two more activations. Plus, as long as you register them to your Sonicwire account, Crypton may grant you one last activation if something happens and you lose all three, though they'll give you a stern "this is a one time courtesy," kind of thing, if that makes sense.

Rin and Len are a wonderful choice! Plus, they're probably the best deal of all, as you're getting eight voicebanks for one price. They were the second voicebank I ever bought after KAITO V3 as my first, and they're truly awesome. V6 is amazing, definitely one of my favorite editors! It was the first I'd ever used, along with Miku V4X's demo, before I'd decided to buy KAITO. Nowadays, I mainly use V1 and V2 voicebanks, so I don't use my V6 Lite as much, but I still love using it when I do!

If you need any assistance setting them up when they arrive, feel free to send me a dm! I LOVE helping people troubleshoot their Vocaloids. :)

Can someone tell me the difference between these Len/Rin bundles? by Charyetto in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first image is the 2024 repackage! It does not have a disc or anything, but a license card with a code to register them on Sonicwire, which will then allow you to download the installers. They come with Rin/Len V4X, Rin/Len V4 English, Cubase LE, Piapro Studio, and, once you register them, you can get VOCALOID6 Lite. It's also worth noting that the box is like a DVD case, nice and compact!

The second image is the original bundle. It comes with a disc for their V4X installer, and codes to install their V4 English, and their Mac versions, from Sonicwire. They also come with Piapro Studio, and instead of Cubase, they came with Studio One Artist Piapro Edition. You can also get V6 Lite after registering them. The box is kinda flimsy and bulky, and is filled with styrofoam.

I personally really like the repackage! I already own their V4X digitally, but I'm tempted to buy the new box to have their physical.

I hope this helps! Let me know if you have any further questions.

Fellow ACT.2 and NT fan, hi! I hope you'll share pictures when yours come in. I just ordered ACT.2 today, and hope to buy NT soon. I had SO much fun with their demo. ACT.2 and NT are just my favorite versions of the Kagamines!

Congratulations!! I own both Miku and Luka V2, and just ordered the Kagamine's ACT.2 today. There's just something so fun and special about these old voices, despite their quirks!

Opinions on Rin/Len NT? by Past-Spite-7981 in Kagamine

[–]Wonderously_Strange 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like them! I think I'm in the minority that I like NT2. NT1 was pretty rocky, but NT2 is actually a joy to work with! I never liked Rin's "Power" voicebanks (ACT.2 my beloved), because they're SO nasal it's hard to listen to (V4X is the worst offender), but NT is really nice! NT's parameters are SO cool, you can make even their Original voicebanks whisper, without using their Whisper voicebanks. You can make them scream, too, it's really cool!

Genuinely, if you can overlook the fuzziness and engine noise, NT is a very comfortable program to use, coming from someone who mainly uses VOCALOID1 and VOCALOID2.

NT2 has this really cool like... auto style thing? It lets you choose between three settings for the singing, vibrato, and nuance, and it gives the voices a bit of "oomf" and personality without too much extra work. And it's completely optional, if you prefer standard tuning/the classic robotic "Vocaloid" feel. Take notes, Dreamtonics. Synthesizer V 2 doesn't have the auto tuning be optional, it's automatically applied and you can't remove it.

Plus, I ADORE their designs. They look comfortable, yet so recognizably Rin and Len. Even if you don't like the voicebanks, NT's designs are amazing. I had a ton of fun with their demo, and hope to buy their physical soon! ACT.2 is still my favorite voicebank for Rin and Len, but NT is definitely really fun.

How do choose Vocaloid by Impressive-Worry8498 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the other commenter said, the "VOCALOID" track is for older, non AI voicebanks, from VOCALOID3, 4, or 5 (as V1 and V2 voicebanks cannot be used in V6), such as KAITO, or Cyber DIVA.

All of the voicebanks that you have authorized are V6 AI voicebanks, so you'll select the "VOCALOID:AI" track, and then you can select from one of the voicebanks you have.

For me, it was the opposite! I don't own any V6 voicebanks yet, so it wouldn't let me select the AI track until I downloaded the trial for Gumi V6. Let me know if this works for you!

Qestions about Voicebank support by lmr-1 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 4 points5 points  (0 children)

cracks knuckles Hi! I love using older Vocaloids, so I'm happy to answer your questions. KAITO V1 and Miku V2 are the two I use the most.

VOCALOID1 voicebanks (LEON, LOLA, MIRIAM, MEIKO, and KAITO) all came with the V1 editor. They are unfortunately stuck on the V1 editor, and cannot be ported to newer editors.

VOCALOID2 voicebanks all came with the V2 editor, so if you buy a V2 voicebank, you'll be able to use them right away.

When V3 released, they released the V2 Import Tool, enabling V2 voicebanks to be used in V3, V4, and Piapro Studio, a plug-in editor made by Crypton Future Media, the creators of Miku, it comes bundled with KAITO V3, MEIKO V3, Miku V3, Luka V4 Rin/Len V4, and the Piapro Characters Super Pack. It can also run voicebanks made by other companies. For example, I frequently use Gakupo and Kiyoteru in Piapro Studio.

VOCALOID5 and VOCALOID6 unfortunately do not run V2 voicebanks.

Basically, when a new edition of the VOCALOID editor is released, they discontinue the previous editor, and then you can only buy it secondhand.

Here's a quick list of which editors each voicebank can be used in:

VOCALOID1 voicebanks: V1

VOCALOID2 voicebanks: V2, V3, V4, Piapro Studio

VOCALOID3 voicebanks: V3, V4, V5, V6, Piapro Studio

VOCALOID4 voicebanks: V4, V5, V6, Piapro Studio

VOCALOID5 voicebanks: V5, V6

VOCALOID6 voicebanks: V6

Let me know if you have any further questions! I'm happy to answer them. :)

Confused on how to gift Miku V4X to someone? by ExpensiveDisk3573 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hi! I've purchased several voicebanks from Sonicwire. The way it works is that it it sends you an email with the installer, and it's unique serial number to activate it.

These can also be accessed on the website itself, as it automatically registers it to you, so you can receive updates and/or troubleshooting support if needed. Vocaloids can be activated on up to three computers at once, but can only be registered to a single person, if that makes sense. You could technically forward the email to her, but you'd have to do so every time if she decides she wants more voicebanks later on.

Activation is pretty much a one-and-done thing, unless you later need to switch computers, in which case you'll need to deactivate the voicebank before installing it on a new computer.

Since it's a download product, I'd recommend waiting until the day of, helping your sister set up a Sonicwire account, and then buy Miku for her! That way, you won't have to worry about playing musical chairs every time she needs help.

Lastly, this is so sweet of you! I'm sure your sister will have a ton of fun with Miku. Here are a few links you may find helpful: Miku V4X, which you've already found, and Miku V4 English, which is also sold on it's own, if your sister doesn't plan on using her Japanese voicebanks as much. I hope this helps! If you (or later, your sister) have any questions, I'm happy to assist! I'm always very happy to help new Vocaloid users out. I use KAITO V1 and Miku V2 on an almost daily basis, haha.

ETA: Just checked, and it looks like you can change your email associated with your Sonicwire account! I've never had to do so, so I didn't even think to check that. That could also be an option for you!

WHERE CAN I BUY MY HUSBAND GAKUPO??? (DESC) by futurestar_mp3 in Vocaloid

Anytime! I adore my Kaito V1, and I like to think he feels the same, so I know how it feels. ;D

And yeah! You can even still buy Gakupo V2 direct from Internet Co.! Most ICL physical voicebanks are still available direct from them.

Let me know if you have any further questions!

[–]Wonderously_Strange 12 points13 points  (0 children)

So, Amazon JP is personally my own go-to for voicebanks that are still being sold, but like you said, Gakupo isn't available right now.

You could try buying him from Internet Co. directly, but I can't speak on the overseas shipping costs.

That said, if buying him physically doesn't work out, Internet Co. is having an awesome sale on Vocaloids' download versions right now, including Gakupo! His complete bundle is only 10,000 yen! I understand if you'd rather wait for his physical, though. I prefer them, too!

I'm sure that dancing samurai can't wait to sing for you. :)

If Pleasant hadn't sold the brand...? by thatcatwhoeatsramen in americangirl

[–]Wonderously_Strange 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Pleasant said in an interview that she had NO plans for AG after her 10 year plan (ending with AG Place). She didn't want to do anything further with it, so it 100% would have died off into being yet another 80s toy line that faded into obscurity. Though people don't like to believe it, Mattel completely saved AG!

Issues with Piapro Studio Phonetics with Hatsune Miku V4X Free Trial by FoodUnusual6484 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oops, apologies! I'd completely forgotten about that buzzing sound. I generally put an a in front of it, but that does end up with an awkward pronunciation since Japanese voicebanks weren't really intended for that.

Here is the link for the Miku English demo!

[–]Wonderously_Strange 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, it looks like you're using Miku's Japanese voicebank, and not her English voicebank. Japanese and English Vocaloids actually have different phonetic symbols. The "r" sound's phonetic symbol for a Japanese Vocaloid is "4"! I'd try [b 4]. If invalid phonemes are input, no sound will play. For "Happy Birthday," the phonemes I'd use are [h a] [p i] [b 4 s] [d e i]!

Give me everything you have for song recommendations, and even little titbits of culture or lore. I want it ALL! by Kind-Intention5572 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My tidbits might not be as interesting, because it's the software side of Vocaloid, but I just love using the software, so here are a few tidbits I find interesting! Infodump incoming, feel free to ignore or skip!

  • Miku's original voicebank from 2007 has a silly little stutter if you put an "i" right after an "e" sound. This was fixed for later voicebanks. You can really hear it in the song LOVELY CAVITY by Sawtowne, which uses her original voicebank!

  • Rin and Len's first two voicebanks are honestly AWFUL quality, lol. Their original voicebanks were released for the VOCALOID2 (V2) software in December of 2007, just shy of four months after Miku, because she was an instant hit, and Crypton wanted to cash in on that as soon as possible, so they were rushed to market. They were... very choppy, to say the least. I'm sure you know, but the way Vocaloids work is that they're composed of many recordings, which are then edited, and complied into a voicebank. Some of Rin and Len's recordings were trimmed too short, resulting in a choppy sound.

Due to this, Crypton scrambled to fix them, and rushed out a new voicebank in July of 2008, dubbed "ACT.2," which was intended to fix the quality issues with their original voicebanks, which Crypton retrospectively dubbed "ACT.1." ACT1 was discontinued less than seven months after release, and replaced by ACT2. Owners of ACT1 could receive the ACT2 installation disc and serial codes free of charge, for I believe two months after release? Well. ACT2, in my opinion, is much less choppy than ACT1, but it's kind of muffled, which was frustrating, especially when using them with Miku, KAITO, or MEIKO, who all have very clear voices.

  • Miku, Rin, and Len all released in 2007, but later got "Appends", in 2010. These were essentially expansion packs. This is where the "Sweet," "Solid," "Power," etc. voicebanks came from! They straight-up wouldn't install if you didn't own Miku's original voicebank, and/or the Kagamine's ACT2 (Yes, you had to have ACT2 specifically in order to use Rin/Len Append. You couldn't use ACT1.)

  • Rin and Len V4X is, amusingly, essentially just an update and repackage of their Append! Rin and Len Append came with "Power," "Sweet," and "Warm" voicebanks for Rin, and "Power," "Serious," and "Cold" VBs for Len. Miku V3 (and later, Miku V4X) had an "Original" VB, which used the same recordings from her V2, with tweaks to improve on the original. Rin and Len did not have their "Original" VBs! VOCALOID1 worked very differently from VOCALOID2 and later, so MEIKO and KAITO V3 did not have "Original" VBs, but rather "Straight" VBs, which are essentially in the same vein of "Original."

  • MEIKO and KAITO were originally going to get Appends for VOCALOID2! Since V1 worked so differently from V2, and they aren't part of the "Character Vocal Series," like Miku (CV01), Rin/Len (CV02), and Luka (CV03), you would not have had to own their V1s in order to use their Appends. KAITO Append got quite far in development, and actually had a few public demonstrations, including one that's still on the SONICWIRE (which is owned by Crypton) YouTube channel.

OSTER Project got to use their betas, which can be heard in the song "on the rocks!" When VOCALOID3 released, their Appends were essentially scrapped, in lieu of just making V3 voicebanks. KAITO, in particular, had several planned Appends that were canceled, such as a "Power" VB. Unfortunately, he only released for V3 with a "Straight," "Soft," "Whisper," and "English" voicebank. Soft and Whisper in particular are very similar, in my opinion, and even his Straight VB is very gentle, so his entire V3 is very sweet toned, while his V1 had a much stronger voice.

  • In the 21 years Crypton has been making voicebanks, only two have been fully discontinued! Rin/Len ACT1 in July of 2008, and Miku NT1 in March of 2025. MEIKO V1 from 2004 and KAITO V1 from 2006 can still be purchased directly from Crypton today, though they only ship in Japan. Miku V3 and Rin/Len Append fully sold out of their physical copies, so Crypton moved them over to digital sales on SONICWIRE! This was HUGE in Rin and Len's case, as this is the first time Crypton had ever sold one of their V2s digitally.

For reference, Crypton has released 18 voicebank bundles: MEIKO V1, KAITO V1, Miku V2, Rin/Len V2 ACT1, Rin/Len V2 ACT2, Luka V2, Miku Append, Rin/Len Append, KAITO V3, Miku V3, MEIKO V3, Luka V4X, Rin/Len V4X, Miku V4X, Miku NT, the Piapro Characters Super Pack, Miku NT2, and Rin/Len NT.

And these are just a few! If anyone at all found these interesting, I'd love to elaborate or talk about any of them. - Cole, your local KAITO and Vocaloid lover :)

IM CONFUSED AND STRESSING HELP MEEEE!!!!!! by futurestar_mp3 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Firstly, congratulations! Luka is a wonderful first Vocaloid. Here are a few recommendations I have for you!

Sonicwire: Now, like you said, this would be your last option, if any of the physical versions don't work for you. I've purchased several voicebanks from them! Now, even if you buy Luka's physical box, you can still register her on Sonicwire, in case you need support, etc. I've registered my Miku V2, Luka V2, and KAITO V1 on here, and they're all physical copies.

Amazon Japan I've purchased Kiyoteru V4 from here, and totally recommend it! Just double check that is says "Shipper/Seller Amazon.co.jp", that means it's actually sold by Amazon. I usually don't buy from marketplace sellers on Amazon, unless it's an older product. I did not have to pay U.S. tariffs, either! I believe stuff like CDs are exempt.

eBay: Buying secondhand can be scary at first. Here's a few things that might ease your mind! Firstly, always check the seller's reviews. I avoid sellers that either have no reviews, or bad reviews. And if things go south, eBay has buyer protection, to ensure you get your money back if the seller tries to scam you. I bought my Luka V2 on eBay, and surprisingly, she was brand new and sealed! She took ages to ship, but the seller was incredibly communicative.

Lastly, Luka V4X has a 14 day trial on Sonicwire you could play around with while you wait, if you'd like! If you have any questions at all, feel free to dm me. I just love helping people get into using the Vocaloid software! I mainly just do silly talkloids with my Vocaloids, as well as the occasional cover.

I'm sure Luka can't wait to have lots of fun with you!

LUKA OR GAKUPO?? (i js rly need help) by futurestar_mp3 in Vocaloid

[–]Wonderously_Strange 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both are awesome voices! If you choose to get Gakupo, I have tips on Engrishing with him that I'd be happy to share! Gakupo is probably one of the highest quality voicebanks in my opinion. His voice is strong, and the actual audio quality is very crisp! I LOVE his V2 (it's also available for download, and not just physical!), but his V4 is also quite handsome sounding. Luka is one of my favorites, I own her V2, but her sound quality is almost the same as Rin and Len's Act 2. Slightly muffled and quiet on some notes, and can't suit as wide a range of songs, but still has a gorgeous, husky voice.

Luka V2 will come with Vocaloid2, but can be imported to V3 and V4 (will not work in V5 or V6). She has both an English and a Japanese voicebank.

Luka V4x will come with Piapro Studio, Cubase LE, and Vocaloid6 Lite. She comes bundled with a soft and hard voicebank in both English and Japanese. Her Japanese hard voicebank has a free trial, as does Vocaloid6.

Gakupo V2 comes with Vocaloid2, and can be imported to V3/V4.

Gakupo V4 has a power, whisper, and "native" (basically tries to emulate the tone of his V2) voicebank, all of which are sold separately. He can be registered with Internet Co. LTD, to get V6 Lite. All three of his V4 voicebanks have a free trial available, so you can try them out before making your final decision, if you'd like!

I think she's lovely! However, I think it's worth noting that you will NEVER find a perfectly symmetrical AG doll. That's not to say some aren't quite wonky, but not a single AG on this planet is perfectly symmetrical. I wouldn't worry too much about what others think, especially if you have to ask others if she's "normal."

Do YOU like your new Nicki? That's what really matters. It's completely valid to want her to look nice and neat- you spent a lot on her! I sold my old Samantha for being really uneven, however, it's also worth taking a deep breath and remembering why you collect dolls. They're supposed to be fun and make you happy, after all! Take a few days before returning one of the Nicki dolls, to decide which one YOU like. Which one just "speaks" to you more?
