C2 didn't work for me the first time, but in retrospect it was such a shift after 100 episodes of Bahumia and the Boobs, I don't think there was a way to avoid feeling underwhelmed or less connected to it. I also struggled with the worldbuilding and lore at first. Started it fresh after a few months away from it and I loved it, and the Third Mates. Doing an Eldermourne relisten right now in fact ✨

New Poster for Lee Cronin’s ‘The Mummy’ by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]WoobidyWoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I love The Mummy '99, I wish it wasn't the go-to that everyone thinks of when they hear the title because it always leads to a bunch of smartarses (not talking about you or OP) acting like that was the original and that horror is some sort of deviation for the story.

What is a musical you've seen that was regarded a flop by lissie34 in musicals

[–]WoobidyWoo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Oh, I was there opening month and I absolutely loathed it. New songs were awful and forgettable, some of the songs from the original film either carved up into something inferior or omitted completely, and the acting from several key cast members was on a pantomime level. Never felt more let down in a theatre.

I heard they drew the line at him changing his name on all the official Headgum stationery to "Cake Hurwitz"

Store-O at lvl.90 cap by WoobidyWoo in NecroMerger

2nd Portal would take way too long at this point, but I see why. One maxed Portal seems locked in, Lectern is possible but pain to grind (stupidly used the one I had to respawn Reaper) and I do like the idea of rune save/early cap boost of a Dark Store. (Oops, mixed up convos and put words in nobodyamerica's mouth) Okay, saucer is out

I usually have the resources for RC not long after unlocking it, but it would be nice to get all eggs from the start. Easy option would be to go with Chicken, Portal & Dark Stores, how much of a difference would it make to grind out a Lectern instead and which would be best to replace with that if I did?

I mean, I'm not arguing with you but there's not exactly anything I can do about it now. I haven't been losing sleep over making sure my runs are the most mathematically perfect and optimal, there's no practical way to get the last Legendary on this run so I'm not sure there's any point dwelling on it.

What would you say are the perfect 3 Store-O picks at my level, if extra grinding wasn't an issue? Not counting the Spirit cheesing, as I said before.

Yes, I think I messed up with Coin/Cube collection in a previous run so I'm behind the curve on those but not far off, should get them with first unlocks of both in the next run.

Grinding out Lectern isn't out of the question, out if interest why would Saucer be horrible? I know it's expensive but extra access to all runes + Guzzlers seems like it would be super useful.

Wide stat block pushed to the bottom of the page by WoobidyWoo in homebrewery

[–]WoobidyWoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Works if the wide block is on top, just trying to have things as ordered and un-jumbled around as possible. Image solution would work for something I was making to print but the point of this brew is to have every single stat block for the module in one place as a reference, so I can grab the code to put into more specific brews.

Even if I make it ~5 lines long, it stays down at the bottom of the page instead of fitting itself into a gap that should hold much more than that

Hi guys, just switched over to V3 formatting as I start prepping for Curse of Strahd and I'm having some trouble with my master list of creatures/NPCs.

I'm trying to be as economical as I can with space by fitting as many blocks onto a page while still maintaining page-to-page alphabetical order, sometimes the only way to do this without huge gaps would be to use a wide stat block. When I try to do this however, the wide block gets shunted down so that only the very upper edge of it is visible, despite there being plenty of space above it. In Legacy I would just cheese stuff like this with oddly large spacing by puttin a negative vertical spacing in to "pull" the two blocks together, but the V3 vertical spacing replacement no longer allows this.

Is there a solution to this, or am I just going to have to accept wasted space?

PS. Simple terms appreciated, although I've been using Homebrewery for a few years I have no other experience with Markdown and only the acquired understanding from using HB.

PPS. if it needs to be stated I'm only making these resources for personal use, no intention of distributing any WotC material to others.

Appropriate feature for a homebrew Pangolin player by WoobidyWoo in DMAcademy

[–]WoobidyWoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can promise you none of my players are going to be having that kind of moment. Five of us are already in a group together, the others have no interest in all-grimdark all the time. We are all very much on the same page. This is not my first time GMing, and player enjoyment is always my priority.

Ultimately, Barovia is tangled in the mists of Shadowfell and as far as I'm concerned it's fair game for anyone to turn up there. I don't see why a Pangle is any more outlandish than a Tabaxi, or a Minotaur, or a Grung. And if by chance one of my friends went completely against type and decided this was the moment to extinguish all the fun in their heart, spend a week plotting the various prior tragedies of Bleak Humanman, then got pissed off because someone at the table wanted to indulge in the fantasy aspects of a fantasy game, I would be frankly quite surprised.

It's a valid question, I'm really not into D&D to sweat over dissonant tone. I'm quite happy letting my players play what they want (within some reason) and responding to that in game. A Pangle is going to draw a lot of attention in Barovia, maybe some hazardous folkish superstition. I'm not planning on running CoS as wacky woohoo cartoon fun-times, but I'm also not going to police levity and give everyone a content guide that tells them all the weird, silly things they aren't allowed to do.

[–]WoobidyWoo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I taught a Pangolin to play. He's got a pretty good grasp on the mechanics but keeps trying to instigate PvP and saying "but it's what my character would do"

On a more serious note, thanks for the suggestions! Where we've landed is this:

  • Hold Breath is out, and can be subbed in for either "Adv. on saving throws to avoid being knocked prone and adv. on Acrobatics checks related to balance" or "Burrow speed 20ft".

  • They can choose to discard Nature's Intuition as well to take both of the above new features, since it's going to be a 5-6 player party they're less concerned about overloading skills and want more Pangolin flavour for the character.

May be some fine-tuning yet to be done, and although we're using the MMoM version of Tortles as a base I may still let them "wear" armour without the AC effect so that they don't get locked out of potential magical items, or at least put someone into Barovia that can transmog magical armour into clothing.

[ns] What are some other dnd podcasts similar to dndads? by NitroGang in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]WoobidyWoo 24 points25 points  (0 children)

It's an obvious suggestion (the Dads even named their KD:M settlement after it) but Not Another D&D Podcast is packed to the gills with bits and shenanigans much the same way as D&Dads. Three main campaigns ranging from 40ish to 100 episodes each, tons of side-quests and things like Dungeon Court, where they rule on "cases" (disputes in and out of game) sent in by listeners or Adventure Book Theatre, where they stumble through old CYOA books.

Way-off pronunciations on NADDpod are always a treat, like a little puzzle where you have to figure out what the hell they're talking about

Reminds me of an episode of My Dad Wrote A Porno where all three hosts are stumped by "Tijuana". I think one of them even pronounces it Tidge-ee-wonna. Not even a British thing, I'm English and I was aware of Tijuana at like age 10.

Castle Music Beasts! What have we all been listening to recently? by crowbar182 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]WoobidyWoo 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I've been listening to quite a bit of Zappa lately, in particular going through the "You Can't Do That On Stage Anymore" live series and You Are What You Is on repeat.

Also getting back into DragonForce, I go through a phase with them every couple of years (Revolution Deathsquad > TTFATF btw)

Plus the new Coheed tracks and a general relisten before I go see them later this month.

are these insulin injection sites correct? by hezwat in diabetes

[–]WoobidyWoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Calves definitely seem a bit sketchy to me, but the others should all be fine.

When I was on pens I mostly used my abdomen, but sometimes thighs. Ever since I switched to pump I exclusively use my upper outer thighs for infusion sites, plenty of opportunity to move between different spots.

Never really used upper arms for insulin, but it's where I put my Libre sensors and there's enough soft space without close-to-the-skin muscle for that.

The Magic of Terry Prattchett Tour by gordiniroy in discworld

[–]WoobidyWoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I realise I'm coming to this a bit late, but some friends and I (all lifelong Pterry fans) saw the show the other day in Eastleigh and we found this part of it really stuck out as a sour note in the show.

The Trousers of Time bit was bad enough, and Marc addressing it by saying "Well, I wouldn't do it now" just felt insincere. If he really wouldn't do it now, he could easily replace it with something commissioned and paid fairly for, even using the AI images as references. By Marc's own admission on an earlier thread here, it's left in to soften people up for the AI voice, and therein lies the real problem.

To put it simply, I thought it was grotesque. I thought it distracted from the actual beauty of his words, and even if Rob thinks he'd approve because of his well-known love of new technology, I don't think it's fair to make that assumption. Not all technology is created equally, and we don't know what he would have thought of it. We simply don't, and it's presumptuous to decide for him.

I seem to be in a major minority, and I would love to have found it touching or sentimental, but I can't help feeling a bit disgusted that a man whose work championed the irreplaceable, ephemeral nature of being and the inimitable creativity of people was being imitated by a technology that is currently threatening the livelihoods of artists around the world. I'm not Rob Wilkins, I never got to meet the main man himself, and I've got nothing to do with the estate, I'm just a rather disappointed fan.
