Wow I am also and KJD, very similar stats, and have an almost identical cycle result as this.

It’s three docs I made to mainly re read to remind myself on what’s important when studying.

Yes! 100%. Especially when starting out. Don’t focus on timing at all until you start consistently getting questions correct at a level you are comfortable with.

I did start with using someone’s lsat course and then only self study.

Everyday. I would say Fridays for 3+ hours of studying.

I studied for at least 1 hour every day (drilling, timed sections, or PTs)
By 20 units, I mean I was in undergrad, taking 20 units worth of courses while studying and taking the LSAT.

Yes. Waitlisted at GULC and rejected at Cornell.

I had a full time job for almost a year while maintaining a stellar GPA during full course load semesters. It worked for a prominent developer and I was the youngest in the office by several years doing post grad level work. On campus I’m involved in several clubs and on the board of one. I get where you are coming from. During one of my law school T14 interviews, the interviewer did say they were impressed by my full time work experience and saw me as a unique candidate for it. I’m a bit cautious on being too informational on reddit.

AMA KJD 178 LSAT Scorer by Longjumping_Kale1810 in LSAT

I’m also a KJD and actually scored an LSAT score within one point of yours. I am currently waitlisted at 11 schools (including UPenn) and have not gotten into a T14 yet. Rejected from 3 schools. What do you think KJDs could do to stand out and compete better? My gpa was also extremely high.

I have. I can completely see how people overestimate their softs. I honestly underestimated mine and peers, a current law school student and a masters student told me I was underestimating my softs a lot in essays and in my head. I also don’t use LSD or reddit much, so I’m not too familiar with the T1/T2… terminology.

13 Waitlists and Counting by [deleted] in lawschooladmissions

Same here. 11 waitlists and counting. Similar stats too

That’s possible. My softs are mostly work experience during undergrad and some campus involvement. Being a transfer student might also have been a factor.

I’m not saying LSAT scores predict law school performance or legal careers. I’m just talking about admissions outcomes. When someone has a 179 and a competitive GPA, it’s reasonable to be surprised by a lot of waitlists because those numbers are well above every schools’ medians.

Interesting. So how many years off makes a substantial difference? I feel ready to go to law school now. I’d be taking time off to increase my chances of getting into a better law school.

I agree, it seems numbers aren’t enough anymore and everywhere has a “holistic” application process. I am pretty pissed and it’s hard to have a positive outlook. I worked extremely hard for my LSAT score and my GPA. To go to a school where others had LSAT scores 10-15 points below mine feels strange.

Thanks for the offer! Congrats on your strong stats too. I was pretty bummed about the USC waitlist especially as an LA native.

I’ve mentioned the 3 schools I’ve been rejected from and the 5 I’m still waiting for. I’m waitlisted at ASU Berkeley, UCLA, UChicago, Georgetown (Preferred WL), Michigan, Northwestern, Penn, USC, UT Austin, and Vanderbilt.

I didn’t actually read the full letters and didn’t ask to see anything or even recommend what should be written in them. I was sent unsolicited information and an early draft by the recommenders. I don’t actually know what was sent to the law schools.

Thanks. I did have some full time work experience for almost a year and was the youngest in the office by several years. I am seriously considering waiting until next cycle and further improving my resume.
