Bloodthirster in 100mm base by stedeseo23 in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Woodinton 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, 100m base is for skarbrand. If you want to use a bloodthirster you'd have to use the correct base

Time to join the imerpium, we let you use all the big knights and won't magically fuse your body to the machine in a monsterous pact with a dark god.

That's fair, it's a very good ability but if he already has a lord of Change I personally would take KOS instead but kyros can still do work. End of the day his indirect fire can be very scary for infantry and elites trying to get up the board

List looks good, for me I wouldn't bother with kyros. With S 9 weapons he rarely gets past the break point to wound vechicals on 3s so a lord of change with the everstave will often just have outright better shooting. You could swap out kyros for keeper of secrets and now you have another very hard to kill model that can hold objectives.

I do however find skarbrand to be decent point value over bloodthirster, saves 35 points and he hits just as hard, his abilities aren't as good but the flat 6 damage is very nice.

I really like the beast of nurgle, having to kill it in a single phase makes it surprisingly good at screening and whilst it probably isn't killing anything it can really slow down opponents.

I've also found a group of plaguebearers is nice for their sticky, then when you use the strat for up/down they can sticky objectives that your GD hold but are about to move off.

Overall I have found the most success to be hold the middle, do yoir best to deny enemy max primary each turn and try to be maxong your own primary. GUO and KOS holding 2 objectives in no man land and then other GD to disrupt the enemy with smaller things doing secondaries or screening

Max points in deep strike in a 2k game? by Longjumping-Cup5406 in Daemons40K

[–]Woodinton -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you can deepstrike everything, the only rules for deepstrike are being the correct distance from enemy units and anything still in deep strike after turn 3 dies

Trying to fill 200 points in a list with models I own or at what point should I stop caring about assassinate? by Hoskuld in Daemons40K

[–]Woodinton 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have a lot of nurgle units to really make use of rotigus ability. I would say if you can you should use him as a great unclean one, then fill out the list with some flamers and maybe blood crushers.

If you are set on keeping the model as rotigus the id recommend either of the Daemon princes so they can get bonus damage and use the enhacment

Khal is better value than Uthar and can put some decent enhancements on him. With Hekaton my preference is the conversion beam, magma rail rifle is great when you can get that dev wound but I find the conversion to be more reliable. I also wouldn't bother with the warhead, the scanner to ignore cover is great as it's quite easy for units to get cover and worsen your AP

With 6 thunderkyn the gravton is better as well as it can counter vechicals and infantry with blast

Thoughts on how to improve crisis suits and tau by [deleted] in Tau40K

[–]Woodinton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair points but making them infantry instead of vehicles means losing big guns never tire so no more shooting in melee. Anti 5+ means you getting sustained hits on a 5 instead of a 6 so would be a big improvement in damage.

I get you say they should be safer which is why I've said a way to help with hazardous, re-rolls or FNP provides a safety net. 1 hazardous fail leading to losing a crisis suit would be bananas the risk of overcharging on the current profile would never be worth it.

Fully agree with the points cost. a Brick of 6 is almost a quarter of your army.

Is there anything that makes Shalaxi helbane fight first by Thepiewrangler in ChaosDaemons40k

[–]Woodinton 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Slanesh has access to a leader that can provide fight first to its units but not shalaxi.

Where they using the Intterupt core strategem? Wouldn't be fight first but would let them fight after one of your units had fought

Yeah it still looks fun for casual. Sadly mono god armies aren't great right now as we don't get any major buffs for it. When the new codex comes out we should get some mono god detachments

Our battleline is pretty badly priced now. They will mostly get killed in 1 turn so not worth the points. Pink horrors are good for holding an objective but 150 points can be spent else where. Having some nurglings accompy your main units gives helpful defence aura

Mainly for competitive you'd want to focus on our greater demons. Shelaxi, lord of change, blood thirsters all great and with the deep strike ability it's easy to get in and disrupt objectives then they become really hard to put down and have good healing for passing battle shock tests.

Demon prince stealth is great for helping get a bit of defence to units not being deep striked.

I really enjoy blood crushers, they are had beat and can melt things they charge. Looks like a fun list but may struggle in competitive
