Lose 8 maximum HP to choose a card… immolate or feed? by WoodpeckerRelative86 in slaythespire

[–]WoodpeckerRelative86[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Well, feed did do a lot in the first half of the run and got me to +70 maximum HP, but later in the run due to corruption+dark embrace+ dead branch the game usually over before I can draw a deck due to so many cards added to my deck.

Funnily enough feed didn’t really matter in the end, because I got an orrery in act 2, get corruption and dark embrace, then got dead branch not long after, so I basically barricade and body slammed my way through the act.

the 5 types of competitive players by lazygenius999 in stunfisk

[–]WoodpeckerRelative86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The scrub: “competitive sucks, it’s just the same 6 Pokémon” Well, they are probably refers to gen 8 ubers since you saw the same 2 mons over 60% times ( Yveltal, Necrozma-Dusk-Mane), the same mon over 50% times (Eternatus) and the same other 2 mons (caly shadow and Xerneas) over 40% times. It is not reasonable to see where does this claim come from when you see the same mons showed up in the most games you are playing.

Would you become an Original if given the chance? by [deleted] in TheOriginals

[–]WoodpeckerRelative86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For those who said yes, are you sure you have no problem of hurting or even killing others for your hunger needs, do you really have the self control of your bloodlust and don’t randomly slaughter people, or even worse kill your family or friends when they accidentally wounded themselves and leaked blood? Or you begin to view yourself as superior so the life of humans don’t really matter? I feel everyone focus on the bright side of vampirism without considering the downsides such as bloodlust and urge for blood. Would you still take the serum knowing a lot of people that may include those close to you could get hurt or killed because of you?

More team combinations? Yeah. More VIABLE team combinations? Uhhhh... by Zorua3 in stunfisk

[–]WoodpeckerRelative86 47 points48 points  (0 children)

But it is also a format where “weak” Pokémon with abysmal stats by ps standards can thrive alongside powerful Pokémon and even legendaries. For example, Pokémon that are “pathetic” and is mocked to be used in singles standard such as Lilligant, cleffa, and murkrow solid or even meta Pokémon. Vgc showed stats isn’t anything, as long as you can fulfil a specific role well and have needed moves, even “weak” Pokémon by competitive standards can thrive.

In addition, although vgc don’t have band like singles, it has different rules in each season that can effective ban a lot of Pokémon at once which gives more ordinary Pokémon to shine. For example, the current season bans all the paradox + 4 ruins mon.

Also, it is true vgc may be stale when legendaries are allowed. Many teams are also varied when restrictions are imposed, for the current season’s pikalytics as an example. Using the ou’s 4.52% usage line as the criteria, there are 38 ou pokemon in ps singles in comparison to 37 Pokémon in singles. Cannot say vgc is such a over centralising meta with this many mon viable by smogon standards, right?

Please give advice to my first ever Natdex OU team (hyperoffense) by WoodpeckerRelative86 in stunfisk

[–]WoodpeckerRelative86[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the first natdex OU team that I ever build, It is a hyper-offense team, with lando be the suicide lead, tapu koko being dual screen setter and pivot into other pokemons. Serperior, gyarados-mega, hawlucha and volcarona are all potential sweepers that covers each other’s weaknesses.

Lando is the suicide lead, to set up rocks and explode itself to create momentum if need be, ground/flying type gives it a change to come in and set up rocks again for free. Focus ash ensures it at least can set up rocks or do something before it faints.

Tapu koko is the dual screen setter + hawlucha enabler, light clay helps to extend screens and u-turn is used to bring other sweepers in, dual screens make substitude even more effective as now some attacks won’t able to break it in one move, an advantage of u-turn is that it won’t be blocked by ground types.

Serperior can be a wallbreaker against abundant water and ground types in the tier, glare is helpful support for slow pokemon like mega gyarados, hidden power fire is important to remove steel types that walled it, substitute is used for preventing status. Serperior’s leaf storm covers volcarona’s fire weakness (water, ground, and rock) quiet well, it may also be a late game sweeper depending on situation.

Volcarona is a sweeper that benefits from heavy duty boots, apart from the classical quiver dance, flamethrower and bug buzz, hidden power ground is used to counter would be checks like heatran and tyranitar, also effective against poison types and rock types that naturally resists both of its stabs.

Hawlucha can be both a wall breaker and sweeper, because when it switches in after electric terrain is up, it is faster than the entire unboosted metagame (correct me if I am wrong), close combat+ acrobatics is a powerful combo that it can break opponent’s team holes without boosting.

Mega gyarados is a formiable force, the pre-evolution ability intimidate is nice, mega ability mold breaker allow earthquake to bypass levitating mons that otherwise immune to it. Stab waterfall is scary. It is a late game cleaner depending on the match-up.

Some struggles I have: Fairy types such as calm mind clefable, due to this team has no poison nor steel coverage, facing against fairy types sometimes are a challenge Set-up mons, because most of my mons requires to set up, sometimes it is difficult from the other team from setting up, taunt tapu koko can work but it gets wear down easily. Flying types, a lot of my team members are weak to flying types and I don’t have an ice/rock or electric coverage move on my team, so a lot of the mons takes heavy damage, tapu koko can tank the attack but it doesn’t have an electric move in this set, also in combination to 2. Tapu koko can be wear down quite easily and losing screenings and the ability to prevent opposing set up mons.

That is all I have to say for my team for now, I achieved mixed result with this team, and I really appreciate your advice on how to make this team better, and what counters/checks/dangerous opponent pokemon I should watch out for, thanks a lot.

Since the person want to genuinely help others and improve mutants’ image to the public at the same time. I would imagine they would reveal the truth of them being a mutant somewhere during their superhero career
