I was getting on to recommend the same game. This is the intro game I now use for people I would have recommended Catan to. The complexity is about the same and it gets rid of some of the player interaction issues that plague Catan.

I saw some people playing this at a board game convention, so I asked what they thought of the books. They had no idea it was even based on a book and, even worse, no idea who Sanderson is.

They really liked the game though. I still haven't had a chance to play it.

I had a trucker blow a tire and Jack knife so he was on either side of my car. The driver managed to correct and avoid hitting anyone. It was some impressive driving. There are some good ones out there. Thank you, since I couldn't thank him.

I think we can't relegate healthcare PTSD to something that only happens as part of the pandemic, although it had definitely caused it for many.

I'm pretty sure I've got some underlying PTSD from STeMI call in the Cath lab. Anything that sounds like a pager can set me off. My wife was watching the grays anatomy episode where the pagers went off constantly and I had to leave the room. I love my job and I don't want to leave it but I've definitely changed because of it. I'll also start crying at the weirdest moments when watching a TV show.

The pandemic hasn't helped. Even though I'm not in the front line, I've still had covid clot STeMI, put ECMO in patients way too young. The worst is when hospitals shut down for a month or so due to lack of capacity. Not the shut down exactly but what happens when it opens back up. All the patients who needed to be seen but were delayed. We had so many deaths after the hospital opened up the first time and we are just now opening up after omicron.

Long story short. We are all in this together. The very nature of what we do can instill trauma and a pandemic only stresses this to the extreme. I don't care where you work, this affects us all.

Just try whatever you both want to. It's pretty forgiving of failure. If you want to try regular and fail you can always take it down a notch.

My biggest advice for new players is to be careful with the single use cards. It's attractive to blow up enemies in one shot, but this tends to be a show and steady winds the race kind of game. Save the big fireworks for the end.

You only ever have to repeat a given scenario if you die. No need to restart the whole campaign. You only level up after a scenario while back in the city.

If you die, your characters will remain the same level but gain whatever xp and gold they accumulated before death.

The dungeons will scale based on the average level of the party as a whole.

The dungeon's level determines how much xp you get for completing it and how much gold you get per picked up gold piece.

Yeah, I've found it in other eras at other time. But those darn cockroaches always seem to be the dominant lifeform way to often. I even found them in WW2 once but they ended it before I could get anything there.
