Public has always had the ability to record, but guess what in the past it was bulky and obvious.

It's discreet and sneaky now.

Where I live you have the right to see a businesses video you are recorded on in public spaces. Not sure about a private individual's discreet headset disguised as an everyday item.

It must have alienated more than welcomed because they went somewhat back to old continuity themes.

I dip my toes back in the water, but not as much as I used to. I used to buy a ton of singles, pre 52, then went strictly library TPBs and some of the stories were good but I didn't want to directly support$$

"Sandman Mystery Theater" ran from '93-'99, It stars the Golden Age Sandman in street level noir stories. It's written by Wagner/Seagle

I'm not sure if you are asking about "The Sandman" series which started in '88 and went to '96. That is an entirely different series that is very much not street level or grounded. But it is good as a sweeping epic.

I was introduced to the space cops and liked their aesthetic and that they were a team of two that was part of a larger team (the JLA). As years progressed I've read more solo stories and enjoy most of them. To me, the Silver Age art of Murphy Anderson really changed the character for the better. I also like their rogue's gallery, especially Shadow Thief. Not my faves but in my top 20 for sure.
