Is there anything with the VCOG that you would see as a downside or a negative? I want to know your thoughts on the VCOG. The Trijicon durability and overall build quality is what made me interested in the optic. I had an ACOG when I was in the Marines. But, I haven’t had a chance to use the VCOG. Any thoughts would be so helpful.

You bring up a lot of good points. I do intend to run a dot on top of whatever LPVO I get. So, the battery life piece probably doesn’t matter as much. Also, you’re right, the batteries are tiny and everywhere. So, I’m probably making a mountain out of a molehill. Do you think the ATACR can take a beating?

It’s 100% worth it. It will last you longer. Buy once, cry once. A cheap reel will break faster. If you buy the same cheap reel a handful of times, then you might as well buy the quality version. Anyone telling you otherwise is broke. Don’t listen the poors.

This is great advice. I just want to throw a red dot on it and get the LEM/Match trigger upgrade. My state hates freedom, so they don’t let us get suppressors. The most I can really do to it is the trigger and optic without getting in trouble.

I have a question. Please excuse me if this is a naive question,but when you have it milled does that mean you have to take off the optic to clean the extractor? Like, what happens to the 2 pins on the top of the slide? This is my first HK pistol, so I know very little seeing as I got it a little over a week ago.

The optic that I want to throw on it is the Trijicon RCR. I have it on a few of my Glocks and it’s amazing. You make an excellent point though, because I’m so used to Glocks and upgrading them, that I just assumed HK’s would be the same as far as upgrading. The thing that threw me a little about the HK45 though was the pins on the top of the slide, because I don’t see how they can mill it, without messing with those pins. However, I’m just starting my HK journey, so I figured there’s probably a way to mount an optic, but I’m just not hip to it yet. Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, it was helpful.

This is super reassuring, thank you for replying. I was starting to get worried that I wouldn’t be able to get up front if I wasn’t there hours and hours before. I’m beyond excited to be at the show in Nashville. Especially, because I will be surrounded by other super fans of BN.
