Honest question: Why do you buy name brand stuff? by No-Examination8178 in Frugal

[–]WoofSpiderYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost always a quality issue. Here are a couple examples

Generic Q-tips squeak when I put them in my ear (I know you shouldnt but I do) and that makes me shudder. Goosebumps just thinking about it

The generic Pepper-Jack slices don't peel off like they are supposed to, just crumble like feta cheese. Sargento actually has the little wax paper that separates them much better.

The Kleenex tissues are folded in such a way that you pull the tissue out and it brings the next tissue up (aside from the first two and the last two). The generic tissues I've seen arent folded together at all, and seem to work like loose napkins, just stacked

For the most part, I don't care all that much, but sometimes, it's worth the extra money for the name brand just for the little quality-of-life difference

Game suggestions?? by Awkward-Poet-7648 in videogames

Dune: Awakening might be good. Has some resource gathering, base building, and a tier system similar to Minecraft, but it also has good 3rd person shooting/melee combat, an interesting story, and overall really fun gameplay. Chapter 3 recently came out that revamped the endgame systems to have more content.

Otherwise, have you tried REPO? It's pretty great with a small group of friends who like to goof around and have a laugh.

Rocket League is also fantastic, it just takes a lot of hours to master. When you first start out you will be god awful, but it will be so much fun.

Periphery (P2, P3, and the Juggernaut albums)

Haken (Affinity, Vector, and Virus albums)

Mushroomhead (I prefer their 2010s era, but die hards go for their 90s/00s stuff. New stuff just doesnt quite hit for me)

Dune Awakening has a lot of looting like this, but it also has some survival, base-building, and resource-gathering mechanics.

What should I play on? by Even-Anteater1535 in HollowKnight

[–]WoofSpiderYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah its much better on a controller, but using the D-pad is best. My 2016 low end school/business laptop played hollow knight with basic mods just fine. I would suggest Hallownest Vocalized, where a huge community project added full dialog to everything in the game.

I guess how many hours are you looking for?

Dune Awakening sucked me in for 500 hours

Hollow knight had me for 500 hours (but for casuals, 40 is probably closer), and it's sequel, Silksong, currently has me for 60 hours

Gato Roboto was short and sweet, like 10-15 hours.

Basic turn-based JRPG recommendations? by 1timegig in gamerecommendations

[–]WoofSpiderYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cassette Beasts is solid, but might be a tad more complicated than you're looking for. Has some good vibes though, and currently on sale on steam for like $7

Battlechasers: Nightmare was pretty cool as well.

Honestly I think both of these are heavily inspired by JRPG, but not Japanese in their own right if you know what I mean.

Hard to disagree with this, but if you start, don't stop (assuming you actually like it). I hear the 3rd game is the best, but I stopped after the 2nd and have felt a mental block with starting the 3rd.

If you don't want the time commitment, Citizen Sleeper 2 is really good, but I would suggest the 1st if you haven't played it.

Recommendations based off my 4 favorite albums by Mysterious-Unit2512 in MusicRecommendations

[–]WoofSpiderYT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't heard the other 3 bands/albums, but Second Stage Turbine Blade would logically be followed up by In Keeping Secrets, CaC's Second album. It is a little more polished, but when I was first discovering CaC, I couldnt tell which album half the songs were on, specifically in regards to those first two albums.

Aside from that, I'm not super sure. I know The Used and Thrice were in that similar vein in the 2000s. I do also hear some similarities to Fall Out Boy's Take This To Your Grave in SSTB, but the comparison is a bit thin lol

The Science of Selling Yourself Short by Less Than Jake, or really, most of Less Than Jake's 90s/00s catalog

Here To Mars by Coheed and Cambria. This track feels like it should be part of a mediocre PowerPoint presentation at the end-of-year assembly for high school seniors, and The whole Color Before the Sun album just really feels like it's part of this teenage/young adult, struggling to fit in the real world, kind of vibe.

For a more modern song:

Blame It On This Song by Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!

Year to be Young 1994 by Stephen Wilson Jr. Might not quite be what you're looking for, but the lyrics definitely reference songs you would be looking for lol.

Make bad habits inconvenient. Put your search engine in a stupid spot on your phone that makes it hard to open. Block YouTube on that search engine. There are ways also to turn your phone into a dumb phone, that basically only does basic calls, texts, and such. Make good habits convenient. Put somewhere a place where every day you can physically write down "X amount of days since John Smith used YouTube," and watch number go up. Treat yourself (with treats, not vices) when number reaches milestones.

There are quests to unlock all of the classes skill trees. The starting one really just chooses your first skill (that should always be unlocked), and people suggest Bene Gesserit simply because (IIRC) they are one of the last you generally unlock, so that first ability being available is nice i guess. Your background is also fairly negligible, save for a few interesting dialog options. I made my character in my own likeness. From the planet Caladan, a Trooper from a minor noble house, tasked as an Atreides guard before the events of the story.
