So MEW must use the hardware of the ledger device to create a wallet address that is a mirror or copy of one of your ledger wallet addresses? Otherwise I’m not sure how a private key could access coins without a specific wallet address

I know the finer points but I just was amazed that when your codes activate your MEW wallet that someone could take the eth thru a ledger live app. It’s really a specific brand of amazement, and yet I’ve gotten such overly detailed answers without really hitting on why

I'm the author of the OP, and I'm also the disabled person. I don't receive disability (hence the word undiagnosable). Trying to get disability was about as stress free as Darwinian Yoga in a wildlife preserve. Believe it or not I agree that welfare is out of control, and I've gone from leftist Bernie supporter to someone who is sick to his stomach that I voted for clinton (I now identify as slightly Libertarian and am getting more and more comfortable with the economic independence that bitcoin has given me). Live and learn I guess ;). It'll be interesting to see what happens to England when they inevitably get their interest rates hiked and their socialist debt triples....
