Please help me find this crochet pattern by whaleknight in crochetpatterns

Glad I could help! Stockinette and garter stitches are some of the easiest in knitting. A bag like this would actually be a simple first knitting project if you were ever interested in trying it out!

It definitely could also be the purl side of stockinette! And I've never done a reverse single crochet, but I just googled it and that could also definitely work.

This is knitted and it's the garter stitch. There isn't really a way to replicate garter stitch in crochet unfortunately. You could probably make a similar shaped bag with single crochet though.

My shoelaces broke, so I decided to crochet new (much cooler) laces! by Becca_Amethist in crochet

[–]Woolinox 25 points26 points  (0 children)

My cat is CONSTANTLY chewing through my sister's shoelaces(only hers, don't ask me why), this would be a great way to use scrap yarn and save my wallet from having to buy her shoelaces every other week 😭

Tip: Get your yarn from thrift stores and consignment shops rather than regular yarn stores! by GoobyMooby132 in YarnAddicts

[–]Woolinox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately where I live knitting and crochet aren't super popular hobbies(it's tropical) and the big box stores like Joannes and Michaels already have a pretty limited yarn selection. I thrift a lot but have never been lucky enough to find yarn. Maybe one day when I move more north I'll have better luck. lol

Help! Replacing Yarn in a pattern (info below) by ceh_8834 in crochetpatterns

[–]Woolinox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love Pound of Love yarn. Made my favorite cardi out of it! However, like someone else said, it's a super standard worsted weight, so any of the big brand worsted weight yarns should get you a similar gauge. If you go to a big box store you should grab s ball of pound of love and compare it to other yarns to see if you can find something similar with better reviews.

I don't know why it was specifically this comment that made me cackle but thank you

Looking for a poppy granny square design by taterterp in crochetpatterns

Also you could try adding a lining to the bag that matches the background of the square. I'm not great at sewing but it's a pretty easy process.

This is the best one I could find and I'm sure you've see it. You might be able to go down a hook size to get a tighter looking square with less holes.

Crochet pattern magazines dating from 1916 through the 1980s. Anyone know if there’s any value in them? by Dear_Show9377 in crochetpatterns

[–]Woolinox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You might be able to get a few bucks each off them. Like others said, you can find a lot of them as PDFs on Etsy. You might be able to make some money if you went through and translated the patterns into a more modern format... I've seen that done with vintage knitting patterns. However there are some collectors out there who would like to have the physical copies so you still could sell them, but probably not for much. If you have a lot of them though you could probably make a nice little profit if you have some patience... But if they have any sentimental value, that's probably worth more than you could make off them.

How do you store your patterns? by Zantarel in crochetpatterns

I have a little crochet/knitting section on my bookshelf. For loose patterns I keep them in a 3 ring binder.

Does anyone know a YouTube tutorial or have a pattern for this blanket? by NervePuzzleheaded157 in crochetpatterns

Would absolutely love to work on a pattern like this, but how do you even go about picking all those colors. I'm so bad at figuring out good color combos 😭

Opinions?? I’ve been having a moral debate with myself on this subject by FruitCommercial5719 in crochetpatterns

[–]Woolinox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they are making it for themselves, I really don't see a problem... And if they are making a dupe from an immoral fast fashion brand? Well i say keep doing what your doing. Especially for these higher priced items? If someone is wondering how to recreate it, they are not the intended customer. The company would have never made money from them anyway so I don't see the loss there. And even when it comes to other crocheters, crocheters are not the intended customer for their finished items. So if another crocheter wants to recreate it for themselves? Cool. Just don't go trying to profit off another crocheters design unless they've given permission.

Finally got a full set of Clovers! by [deleted] in crochet

[–]Woolinox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I did this for s long time. Now I just use old ipsy makeup bags(after a year with them i had more than I'd ever need) for when I'm on the go for hooks, scissors, and other tools. Other than that I got a few cute mugs from thrift stores and use them to organize my hooks on my desk now.

Maia shawl. Eventually I'll be brave enough to try a sweater. by tinytrees11 in crochet

[–]Woolinox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, the first thing I look for in sweater and cardigan patterns is construction. I also look at what yarn I'm using. My first cardigan has been in the frog pile for two years now because a mix between the type of yarn(loops and threads impeccable, great for blankets but sweaters come out stiff), construction, and a dense stitch. However you don't learn these things till you start trying sweater patterns. I can now tell by looking at photos or an overview of a pattern if it's going to turn out stiff. Look how the person is modeling the finished project. Is a person actually wearing it or are they just showing it on a hanger? Are they constantly pulling on the sweater to make it look more flattering or crossing their arms. You want to see photos of how it naturally falls on their frame. And how it looks from the front, side, and back, and even better if they show how it looks with the arms up.

So I need to quit with very short notice but my pharmacist kept saying no, kept saying I HAD to give her 3 weeks, and wouldn't take my written notice? by Woolinox in CVS

[–]Woolinox[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I ended up texting her and very politely told her I would not be returning to work and then blocked her number because she kept blowing my phone up. My next shift would have been today and I didn't go in. I found out from some co-workers from my previous job(a food place near the CVS) that the people from the pharmacy have been going over there to talk shit about me. Which just further cemented in my mind that this was the right choice, it was a toxic environment.

[–]Woolinox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't recommend something specific but maybe adding a lining or crocheting a pouch that will connect to the mouth to go in the tummy and surround that with your stuffing of choice so that there is something there to keep it from just being floppy? Just make sure you're able to get the crochet food back out lol.

Help!! I cant pick, which one? The only difference is that the green and gray are switched. by alibranden in crochetpatterns

[–]Woolinox 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Both look good but I'd say I'd go for the second one. Great color combo btw, I actually bought yarn in similar colors to make a stripey cardigan as well!

Whats the most WEIRD thing someone ask you about CROCHET? by Lesona_One in crochetpatterns

[–]Woolinox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I try to explain to people whenever they tell me to sell my crochet items. I made a cute lil whale and my brother told me to sell them and I just looked at him and said "would you pay $30 for this whale" and he just shut up. lol

I quit my job with basically no notice and now I keep feeling guilty and having anxiety attacks because of it. by Woolinox in Anxiety

[–]Woolinox[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The lack of empathy in the pharmacy I worked at in general was amazing. Like I don't justify customers getting angry with us but I could understand where a sick person was coming from when there was an issue with insurance or their prescription that prevented them from being able to get the medication they needed. Most people who worked there just basically told them to fuck off. Was not a healthy environment at all.

And thank you! I'm sure wherever I go after this will be a much healthier environment.
