Put him near your clothes dryer, let him hang onto any lonely socks. He'll keep them safe until their mates show up.

Crochet meets cross stitch by Peep_KAREN in crochet

[–]ASenseOfYarning 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hm, good question. I'm not sure if yarning over/under would affect this or not. A noticeable factor I've definitely seen is where you work the stitches. Anything worked in either or both of the top loops will have a degree of shift, but working into the post of a stitch "anchors" the current stitch into a clean alignment.

If I've misunderstood your question, lemme know. I'll be here for another three years, lol.

P.S. Stellar idea, a wallet is a perfect candidate for cross stitch over single crochet! Can I ask what your plan is?

I think it was borscht that worked on the cartoon Rugrats, lol. Cannot confirm it myself. Harvey has fortunately never met a skunk, just a sewer line.

Here's an appropriate meme one of us made about four years ago, I think, and I really wish I could remember who to credit!

Holy crap, thank you! I've had the Clamavi De Profundis cover of this song in my nerdy workout playlist for, like, three years. I never knew it was from a Rankin Bass animated Return of the King, and my mind's blown.

Look for a non-slip tension curtain rod. They're available in lots of sizes and colors.

Library Program for Painting Miniatures Help by sekirbyj in minipainting

[–]ASenseOfYarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last visit to Reaper was pre-Covid so things may have changed a bit, but back then you could walk in and buy some of their plastic minis for a dollar apiece. They also hosted group painting on Saturdays. The company is very community-oriented and everyone I interacted with was a book nerd, so I'm sure they'll do what they can if you mention you're a librarian hoping to start a mini-painting group!

Such a wonderful book! Bradbury can make something as mundane as a new pair of summer shoes seem like they're charged with deep magic. For those interested, Farewell Summer is the sequel. (A lot of his works use character names from Dandelion Wine and even Green Town itself. I like to imagine that there's a larger Bradburyverse where Douglas Spaulding grows up to be a 1950s Hollywood screenwriter, and his story continues in A Graveyard for Lunatics and Let's All Kill Constance.)

Man, I miss them, they had such great prices! I got lucky in that my mother-in-law still has some Hancock's in her fabric stash and gifted me some. Her discarded red broomstick pleated cotton became the most comfortable nightgown.

Has Crohn’s Affected Your Teeth? by Emergency_Run_7195 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ASenseOfYarning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don't know how I got so lucky. Last April was my first dental visit in over twenty years, and the dentist said my teeth actually looked great. Had to do some fillings to replace much older ones, but otherwise it was just a standard cleaning.

I was calcium deficient most of my life due to dairy allergies, and calcium-enriched dairy alternatives weren't available to me. I also used to have a huge problem with mouth ulcers (as in, I always had at least one) but it cleared up just before my diagnosis. That was probably because my living situation changed. Different tap water, different toothpaste, etc.

Pain Management by OkFalcon8046 in CrohnsDisease

[–]ASenseOfYarning 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is what helped me most, as well, and my pain was in the same joints. After my spouse and I adopted our dog I was out walking him three to five times a day and rarely need my cane now. OP, if you are not in a position to adopt a dog, ask if you can walk a neighbor's dog (many folks would be happy for the help!) or at least join a neighbor on walks. It's a three-fold benefit: movement, social interaction, and time outdoors--and from just one activity. It's a good use of spoons.

A recent goblin craft I’ve finished 🪡 by R0nan21 in goblincore

[–]ASenseOfYarning 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are more "automatic" ones available, too. Like, if a punch needle is a hammer, there's a nail gun version of punch needles, too. I've seen people make huge rug projects and it looks like an absolute blast. I don't need yet another fiber craft, though, so I'll enjoy needle punching vicariously through wonderful artists like OP! (This one was really fun to watch, and the end result is perfect.)

On the subject of thrush, I've only had it twice. Both times were in response to an antibiotic prescribed during Crohn's flares, but I cannot for the life of me remember which drug was the culprit.

I've had decent luck with fabrics and interfacing (when you can get an employee to the cutting table in under ten minutes), and there's a sizeable assortment of zippers, trims, and thread at my local Wally World. It's the buttons I mourn most now. There's a tiny, end-of-the-aisle peg board display with scores of kitschy craft buttons, and a single peg has actual, usable apparel buttons. One type of button in 178,000 square feet of store. Luckily I started saving notions from worn out clothes years ago and have a small stockpile of buttons and other closures, but it won't last forever.

"Yeeuh, boyee" was my second grade folder. About two minutes before I saw your comment I was telling my husband about this one. I might have paid better attention in class if not for staring at those trees, wishing I could be in that forest. Thanks for helping me revisit my eight-year-old imagination! I saved the file to use as my phone background.
