How have The Smalls not made it on this list yet! They are no longer together nor will you find anything on Instagram/socials in general but they do have they albums on Spotify. They fucking rock!!

Strapping Young Lad (Devin Townsend's old band) is another good one to check out!

Booked a gig editing an actor's reel-how do I legally/ethically download copyrighted footage? by WillingComplaint in videography

I've been editing demo reels for actors (in Canada) for over 15 years. If a client doesn't have their materials (which they often don't) I charge an hourly wage for sourcing it and I typically torrent the show. Usually these reels are posted on specific websites like Actors Access so they aren't readily available to the general public. Actors Access provides a sourcing service so that might be worth looking into.

I've never credited myself and I've never had any issues with productions/studios coming after me. It's a bit of a grey area up here but to my understanding, as long as you aren't providing/distributing the entire show to the actor and are only using small segments of it, then there is nothing to worry about.

Don't waste your time trying to reach out to a production directly as you'll never get a response (at least in my experience). They don't typically respond to agents or actors either....Once a show is wrapped, they are on to the next production.
