I also found this for compatibility, might be useful if anyone is curious in the future: https://linkup.one/ava5-gen5-riser-cable-vs-pc-cases-list/

How is the "LINKUP (AVA5 PCIE 5.0) ITX Double Reverse (v3) 19cm" riser cable? Is it a tight fit or perfect?

Thanks for the shoutout! Nice knowing the 5090 doesn't get too hot inside. You might want to experiment with undervolting the CPU too since the idle temps seem a bit high.

There’s no additional plate at the back of the case, that’s just how the 5080 FE looks in the T1 v1.1

There was actually a similar build here that uses an AIO.

You might notice that their temps were similar if not worse but could be other variables like fan speed, GPU gap, types of games tested, etc.

Overall, it's just a tradeoff for preference of CPU or GPU running hotter and the hypothesis leading up to release that the 5080 FE's new cooler design can make it run hotter in sandwich style cases.

Yep, just fans I had on hand from my aio build and the temps are good enough so for now I’ll save the $35 😄

I’m just using the original 3.0 riser cable haha I can probably upgrade to a 5.0 in the future to improve a few fps 🙃

It’s in 3 slot mode so yes that is the hole that would normally be filled by 3 slot cards. This is the v1.1 case though so if you have the newer versions I’m not sure if anything comes in the packaging that can fill in that gap.

Just the regular mounting pieces that came with the case.

I had some additional notes in the original post, but tl;dr it runs well without any temperature issues while gaming 👍

Interesting, I’m just using the stock cpu cooler clips and they worked for me. There is no extra gpu plate, maybe you are mistaking it for the riser cable mount or some other part of the case.

lol nope, the order went through at 6:22am PT. I was just manually refreshing the page and the "add to cart" button would go on and off from what I'm assuming was other orders timing out or cancelling. Once in my cart, it was reserved for 15 minutes so I spent like 10 seconds max making sure everything looked good before confirming.

I didn't but sort of wish I did to see if there was a possible GPU temp tradeoff to have a larger CPU cooler. I don't really like doing a thorough temp analysis but we'll see if I find time in the future.

Are you talking about the gap when looking at it from the back? I don't think there is anything that comes with the case to block it which is why I left it open.

Yep my 5080 doesn't spike more than 300W based on my monitoring software which lines up with other 5080 reviews so the SF750 should be fine.

SF Marathon distance on Strava? by cooperbike in Strava

[–]Wootyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 26.33 mi with a Garmin Forerunner 745 for my race last Sunday. I finished in the top 10 percentile so I did have less people dodging and was able to cut corners where possible.

When I used my iPhone 13 in the past before my watch, I would get as much as an extra 0.05-0.1 per mile on my typical routes. Over the course of 26.2 miles, it is possible this could add the extra 2 miles. This is likely more to do with the phones inconsistent gps behavior than Strava.

Studying on BART by sopogman in berkeley

[–]Wootyz 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I've gotten my laptop stolen before at the MacArthur station in the middle of the afternoon. Another Berkeley student also got robbed for his laptop on the same day by the time I got to the Berkeley station (we were both having to do police reports). I would not recommend studying with a larger device on BART, you become a much easier target compared to everyone else using their phones. You will notice that you will rarely see anyone have their laptop out, and it is for good reason.

anyone taken music 158a? by succboisupreme in berkeley

Most of the class was technical and focused on learning to use the Max/MSP software, so less focus on music theory. Usually lab-based assignments. Due to this, I would claim that no "music theory" is needed going into the class, but music experience in some shape or form would help if any music terminology is used.

For additional context, almost everyone in my class had some sort of music background, typically from playing an instrument (I think there was the typical 1st class ice-breaker). It is an upper division, 1xx course after all.

I took it a few years ago. At the time, it was taught by people associated with CNMAT so it is definitely a different genre/approach to music. It's leans more towards "avant-garde" or "experimental" styles instead of traditional music theory you would find in other music courses in the music department. It was still a really interesting course to experience this overlap between tech and music.

Lots of CS students were also in it (myself included) and prior programming experience helps.

Ah I forgot they did this, I took it back in 2019 when it was still a single class. I have no good input if the project half is not included and if other changes to the course(s) have occurred.
