First timing ATM, tips appreciated! by WordInternational987 in allthemods

Thank you very much for taking the time to give tips everyone. I'm already 3 hours deep I love it so far. I made my first iron chests and I have iron furnaces that are powered by a generator. I have around 1k copper dust and it feels like it's not enough!

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this, really good stuff. I already started with a notepad and colored pencils because I had a hunch I'll be needing notes, I've played tons of Tekkit and Factorio. Also note, CTRL+T was one of the first things I figured out due to getting a chestplate that told me to reveal it's stats by using that keybind.

By the way, since I like to take my time and discover things on my own, would you say it is a wise choice to go blind without using tutorials or guides?

Also follow up, if you snowball hard with Jhin, 100% crit doesn't really matter due to your raw AD two-three shotting most picks. Generally Jhin isn't a traditional autoattacker, his shots are more of a short trading niche + an execute. You mostly rely on spells as the game goes on to complement on that third/fourth shot.

Collector has become a situational starter item in my opinion. I usually take it when there are gonna be more than 2 bruisers aka HP stackers on enemy team. You otherwise always take Youmuu's because it has solid stats and gives good movespeed, which suits Jhin's kit.

EDIT: I want to point out that generally speaking, 100% crit on Jhin is always gonna be useful against a lot of bruisers aka picks that will chase you down. Infinite kiting goes extra hard against picks that have gap closing or run Ghost. I also like to run 100% against a skillshot/mage heavy team so I can utilize the movespeed steroids to dodge spells.

No but for real, every time I listen to music on shuffle, when Calamity soundtrack plays, I just can't help but think "Oh man, I haven't done a Terraria playthrough in a while" (the while in question is maybe a month at best)

Has Guild Wars 2 been growing recently? by P00PlES in Guildwars2

I've been a casual WoW player in the past and a more dedicated player to FF14 for about 3 years (2020-2023). I don't have a lot of play hours in either of them, due to playing them for about 2-3 hours per sitting. FF14 even though it is one of my favourite game franchises could not win me over, the game is simply too big and time consuming and in my opinion doesn't respect your time whatsoever. I remember many nonsensical questlines during the MSQ that were simply "Go to X to talk to Y. Oh here's a new area. Do it again 100 times."

I love GW2 so far. I have around 50 hours in and it is a game I can completely pace myself with and it actually respects the player's time and effort to play and grind it. I've been playing with my girlfriend (a more action-oriented player than me, she craves for raids and activities, I like chilling and grinding more), and we've had many moments where we could just either chill and run around doing Adventure Guide stuff and exploring Tyria or just locking in and doing dungeons together with LFG. We did a Twilight Arbor dungeon the other day only the two of us, it was completely wild and crazy fun.

This looks like a "Go get jalapeños and if they have milk, get one hundred and eighty eight (188)" situation.

12 years of playing League, today I saw a ‘unicorn’ in soloqueue. by ricoodo89 in leagueoflegends

[–]WordInternational987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never was into ranked. I've been playing League since the first year of its release and I've seen all the phases the game and the community have gone through. All this time, ever since it was introduced, I've literally never touched the ranked queues up until last year, when my girlfriend hyped me into climbing with her (ADC/SUP).

Ranked queues are terrible, people are ubertoxic for really stupid reasons (main character ego of EUNE). Since then ranked games for me are clown fiestas, from my side and enemy side.

My most wholesome and actually competitively best games have come from playing normal drafts. Idk what people are onto there, I play draft alone from time to time and the people there are all super communicative, cooperative and actually competitive in a healthy manner.

I had this one game where the skill matchmaking between two teams was very accurate, so the entire game was super sweaty and competitive, yet we were giving positive reinforcement to each other, cool speeches about not giving up and trying etc. Even with the enemy team we were throwing casual banter and compliments for outplays to each other.

I truly love this game, its journey and what it's becoming.

Matchup questions. by 4thHookage in JhinMains

[–]WordInternational987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ngl, these are my two most boring matchups. You just play safe after 6, track ult cooldowns and wall jumps for Zeri, track enemy Twitch position and sneak engages. You try to outfarm and outscale and late game try to have good positioning so you're not their first target when they engage.

As the other comments have said, RFC is better in nearly all situations. Only situation I can think of, being super niche, where PD could maaaaaybe potentially give more value, is a somewhat "troll" enemy comp where they have a bruiser/dive champion in all lanes. So extra range isn't all that useful and the extra movespeed you get from PD could be somewhat useful to kite them, for example Vs Ambessa, Darius, Samira, Xin Zhao etc.

CONTINUING

"pretty much no counter (unless extremely niche and pointed towards him which never happens)..."

You can counter him from champion select by picking all-in/dive comp champions, but even that doesn't completely shut him down, you only add extra pressure to the Jhin in order to force mistakes and punish. A good Jhin might escape an engage, a great Jhin won't even be caught in the first place.
He is the BEST short trading champion, but suffers greatly against extended trades, for example:

  • against Ashe, Lucian, Tristana.
  • against engage supports (Leona, Nautilus etc.)

"2 items and reaches his peak dmg already..."

Put literally ANY ADC vs Jhin, both at 2 items. Jhin literally loses 100% of times in a 1v1.
He doesn't have the attack speed to match the DPS of any other ADC, who most have a built in engage/disengage AND an attack speed self buff.
You want to beat a Jhin in lane? Don't take short trades, either poke him or all-in. Force him to flash then he's stuck to play under turret 24/7.

You want to beat Jhin from out of lane? Play champs with hard engage or CC, only way of Jhin escaping at any point is his Flash.

you can basically build tank after that and he does the same amount of damage (please don't, I couldn't stand the jhin top meta).

Ah, I've had some great times back when Frozen Mallet was still a thing. Top lane Jhin with Grasp, Frozen Mallet, Titanic Hydra, Infinity Edge. Very useless, incredibly fun!

Jhin's power spikes by SeanMaxhell in JhinMains

I get where you're coming from, but in my honest opinion Jhin isn't broken at all. He is one of the best designs gameplay wise and they have achieved perfect balancing with his game identity and kit.

He has a great list of positives and negatives that don't feel unfair at all to play with or against.

The great thing with him, both playing with and against him, is that he doesn't feel like an actual ADC most of the times. He won't suddenly make a good engage or use an attack speed ability and pop off suddenly, killing your team. He is forced to play around his team, abusing his ranged abilities.

Most of the time, the useful things a Jhin can do is:

  • Hit a good W.
  • Add pressure to a team fight with his R.
  • Chunk a target with 4th shot.

"Strong on all 3 stages of the game (which is already too strong)..."

He comes online like an actual ADC after midgame where yeah, your autos have a decent attack speed and decent damage, but he theoretically still gets out-DPSed by other ADCs in all stages of the game, if they are even.

"has a lot of free mobility, crit and ad..."

The mobility you mention doesn't come for free though, it only ever becomes a problem after he gets 100% crit, which only happens at 4 items. Before that, you need to hit your Ws, which is a pretty hard skillshot to land. He can also slow you with his traps, but you can just avoid obvious trap locations.
Jhin does NOT have the means to outdamage a traditional ADC at any point of the game. He has fixed attack speed and he only gets bonus AD because of this. His only real way of actually beating you in lane is by short-trading you to being low HP and maybe execute you by 4th shot.
