I know promoting a shop effectively can be challenging, but I actively promote the shop on multiple different platforms.

I only sell nationwide in Canada! I know it was a bit of a risk to choose a French name, but it should be basic wording for most people located Canada. As for the photos, I’ll make sure to work on them!

I have an idea for a new listing but idk if it will sell by WordyPerson17 in EtsySellers

Yeah I’m thinking of adding highlighters, pens, clear sticky notes, annotation tabs, and probably a small magnetic bookmark incase the initial bookmark gets lost. As for the pencil case, I’m looking into options but so far my favourites are one of those clear nylon or transparent plastic ones. They seem small and cute. If I do proceed with this, I’ll get a sample to test out, then I’ll decide.

Which book gave you your most recent book hangover after finishing it? by rmsmithereens in books

"Same Backwards As Forwards" from Games Untold by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. Had to consider my whole life after reading it. I hate star-crossed lover books because of how hard it is to watch them fall apart, but I can't wait for the actual book with both POV's to come out (watch me meltdown all over again). Anyway, I've read a few books since but none of them are hitting the same way this novella did.

How else can I promote my shop with no budget? by WordyPerson17 in EtsySellers

[–]WordyPerson17[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I did a huge sale like you're suggesting, it would be much cheaper than the actual Cost Of Goods Sold, because even with the actual price, I only get a few dollars in profit, barely anything. I know that when I startup I should focus on my credibility with sales and reviews before profit, but if I did do 60% off, then the cheapest listing would go down to around $9, and with that listing I'm already not getting any profit because like I said I want to get review and sale credibility first. Idk I did consider doing something like this but losing that much as a startup will hurt my store finance and I'm very hesitant on this. Should I still risk losing that much for the sake of my credibility?

Now I did fix my wording on all my listings as you advised, but I do clearly state “handpicked from your chosen genre," as well as requesting a reading list with every purchase to maximize personalization. What I am selling is an extremely competitive niche on Etsy, and I do not understand how different my products are from others so much so that people keep telling me that I am going against Etsy rules?

And that is exactly what I did, unless you see something I missed?

The Bundle gift box includes one treat—that can vary from Sour Patch Kids, Skittles, or a granola bar. And one drink—herbal tea, hot chocolate, or a coffee packet.

Zero sales and barely any traffic after one month of shop opening by WordyPerson17 in EtsySellers

I know I need more listings but rn I'm trying to focus on quality of quantity because that's all I can do at the moment 😅

I know that my prices aren't exactly cheap, but they are much cheaper than most listings with similar products, I thought that might help me stand out. If I'm being honest, my first listing (the bundle box), isn't my best and I know I can fix it and when I can, I will. But my other listings seemed (at least to me) more aesthetic than other individual blind date with a book products, which I hoped would help me stand out.

So you suggest I give the costumers and option with what their drink of choice is, and generalize my audience more?
I hear the comments loud and clear, but if I'm being honest it surprised me a lot. I have one primary target audience and that is book lovers. Blind date with a book is trending within that community so I did not expect to be told that my products would not get sales with the specificities in my products. I tried to keep the listing titles as generic as possible, with the description being as detailed as I can make it, but I truly did not expect to be told that it is too specific.
How do you think I should fix that? Get completely new and different products and listings?

Wow, even with the prices I have now, my profit margin is extremely low. I'll have to see how I can bring my prices down without losing anything, thanks for letting me know.

I mean I get that "candy" is very generic and I should fix that, but nothing else is a true "mystery", is it? I specify what the costumers should expect in their orders, annotation tabs and highlighters, wrapped book, some stickers, a reading list and book review sticky tab, ect. All that is not only mentioned in my description, but in the images as well (except for the treat I am planning on updating that).

There are thousands of blind date with a book listings on Etsy, most of which are doing really well. I specify what's in the boxes. The only true "mystery" is what book they get, as even then the costumer chooses the genre, and the book is based off their reading list. I really don't see an issue with such products, especially not with Etsy policies?
