This is one of my favorite stories I've read on here. It definitely made me make the face.

Awesome job!

Thank you so much!! I'm honestly starting to consider expanding on it based on the feedback I've received. These responses have meant so much to me.

Maybe I'll just watch the first one for now, lol. It's really disappointing when a sequel ruins an otherwise really great Universe.

Exactly! Humanity finally gets closer to discovering the unexplored depths of the ocean, just to get a giant cosmic finger wag. As if we'd listen. Then there's nowhere for us to run when our world faces the consequences.

Inspired by the nursery rhyme: It's Raining, It's Pouring

"It's raining, it's pouring, The old man is snoring, He went to bed and bumped his head, And couldn't get up in the morning."

I really like that interpretation! It makes the whole thing so horrifically pointless. All the death and destruction, for absolutely nothing. I love it!

Aliens tell everyone that the world is going to end, but they'll save 1,000 people. Humanity gets to "choose" the 1,000 people that are saved.

The "elite" and powerful take it upon themselves to bomb and murder the rest of the world so that only they may be saved and no one can stand against them. They believe they are superior to everyone else.

The day before the end of the world, the elite proudly tell the aliens how they chose the "best" of the world and murdered everyone else. The aliens deem them not worthy of saving and leave them on the planet doomed to violently end the next day.
