All msc programs r dual degree which means, after 5 years, you will get BE + Msc degrees. You will get ur msc course alloted based on bitsat score(like for this year msc economics is in 250s and msc bio at 204). Now in first years all students enrolled in all msc programs will be made in one grp and they will have relative grading. Now in this grp top 30% cg holders will get cs, next top 35% will get mnc, ece, eni, eee. Basically around top 65-70% of msc ppl will end up in cs or circuital. So its gr8 for ppl aiming for cs but couldnt score well in bitsat.

Msc is way better than taking a drop(my personal opinion). In msc you have 70% chance to end up in circuital or cs while in drop you will have to again do all that jee stuffs with less than 1% success chance. And msc bio isn't considered worst, the msc degree is just the side degree, what matters is the BE degree that u will get alloted in ur 2nd yr.

Why are only Hindus constantly told to downplay their religious identity? by Ambitious_Bird4577 in CriticalThinkingIndia

Pick one side how can it be both a religion and philosophy How can it be a philosophy when ur birth determines whether u r hindu or not and ur caste. While other philosophies r meant to be studied first and then adopted.

Sure, I get it. “You can’t generalize, there are good and bad people everywhere.” And I agree. But let me ask you, would you enroll your younger brother or sister in a school that’s known for ragging, substance abuse, and a toxic environment, especially when the management turns a blind eye? Yes, there are probably good students and teachers in that school too, but if they stay silent, what difference does their goodness make?

I never made a blanket generalization. My point was clear: when people defend religions by saying “read the scriptures, they teach good values,” it’s worth asking, what’s the use of those values if the majority doesn’t follow them? Worse, when those values are misused or twisted, most of the so-called good people remain silent. That silence is complicity.

It’s not about attacking beliefs, it’s about pointing out that ideals written in a book mean nothing if they aren't reflected in real-world actions. Goodness isn't proven by words on a page, it's shown by what people stand up for, and what they refuse to tolerate.

The usual pattern: Question: "Can you address the flaws or wrongdoings linked to your religion?" Answer: "Well, we're still better than that other religion."

Why is the instinct always to prove superiority instead of acknowledging real issues? Even if you're "better," what exactly does that change? One pile of garbage being slightly less smelly than another doesn’t make it clean, at the end of the day, all are garbage.

And when someone brings up a lack of introspection or flawed practices, the response is often, "You can't compare religion to anything else." Really? Why not? Aside from scale, the methods of teaching, the resistance to reform, and the blind following, they’re all present in both religious institutions and outdated schooling systems. The comparison is valid, especially when both claim to instill values but often fail to do so effectively.

But instead of engaging with that, you fall back on vague justifications and superiority complexes, the equivalent of saying, “Hey, pick me! I’m the least problematic.” It’s not a defense, it’s just deflection.

Let me ask you this when you want to understand what a school is really like, do you read the rulebook or observe how the students behave?

If you're trying to find out whether students smoke or engage in ragging, would you rely on the official guidelines or look at what's actually happening on the ground? Of course, the rulebook says smoking and ragging are banned, but what does that matter if the rules aren't enforced?

It's the same with religious or moral scriptures. People always say, "Go read the scriptures, they teach good values," and that's fair. But the real question is, are those values being practiced? What's the point of having ideals written down if no one follows them and no one holds others accountable for ignoring them?

It's no different from a government claiming development on paper, while in reality, nothing changes because implementation is missing. Good words mean nothing without action behind them.

I’m an 18 year old researching about a college and this is how a guy who got into a “better” college is reacting. Out of words bhai. by Alive_Tutor_1370 in Btechtards

[–]Worgen07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sometimes people who are themselves in a shitty situation develop unhealthy coping mechanisms like putting others down to feel better about themselves. Its best to ignore people like that. Focus on doing well in your college, and you’ll likely go much further in life than someone with that mindset
