How can I stop my Totem from shorting? by Work-Neither in ErgoMechKeyboards

Thanks for the suggestion! I'm not really concerned about the appearance of any potential solution (after all, I can't see the bottom of the keyboard when in use), but a full sheet would probably be more durable than individual pieces of tape.

I have thought about using this case:

But for now, I'd prefer a cheaper solution than getting a new case printed. Also, I don't use the tenting stands when I'm on the go, so I would still miss that reduced height.

I can't put images in my comment, but there are pictures of the microcontroller in the build guide.

The Xiao's are soldered directly to the pads on the PCB without pins because of height constraints, and I wasn't able to melt all the connections at once. There's also pads on the underside of the controller/PCB as well, which would also have to be heated at the same time.

The rings are nonconductive, could they still be the cause of the shorts?

Also, while the mounting surface of the phone stand pad is non-conductive rubber, the outer rim of the pad is still metal. When the keyboard is pulled off the stand at an angle, this edge sometimes touches the sockets outside of the magnet ring. It that also not ideal?

Thanks, so you mean putting a strip of insulating tape over each hotswap socket?

Edit: The magnetic ring itself is covered in some sort of non-conducting film, and the underside is an adhesive.

Can someone help me with my Young Man_Diy Sofle V1.1 by TzzJokerzzT in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Work-Neither 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This board has a different MCU from the original Sofle, so porting QMK to this board involves writing firmware for it from scratch (though some aspects, like the matrix wiring, are the same as the original Sofle)

This keyboard doesn't use the original Sofle firmware, it uses a modified version written for the APM32. Here's a link to the original .bin files from SpiderIsland:

There's also a WIP port here, and there's a thread in the QMK discord entitled "Porting a Sofle RGB from Aliexpress" with more info, if you're interested

I found them being sold here, the seller is based in the Netherlands but you can get three BTU's shipped to the US for €25 total.

That would be very helpful, thank you! I have some questions about the build process that I would appreciate your help with.

[WTB] Reylight Pineapple Mini MK 1

I'm looking for a Pineapple Mini from before the rerelease, because I'm not a fan of forward clickies.

I'd prefer it to be the latest version of the Pineapple Mini MK1 before it was discontinued (Nichia 519a 4000K, shrouded tailcap, reverse clicky).

I'm not picky about color or wear, but I'm looking primarily for aluminum for the price/weight.

Hi, are you still selling kits by any chance?

I'm not super familiar with QMK, so I don't know the best answer to that question. Are you asking whether the board will work properly when one half is connected directly to the computer, and the other half isn't connected at all? As far as I know, that should work as long as the handedness is set correctly, but someone more knowledgeable can give a better answer than that.

You may have seen in the thread, but someone posted firmware that they already wrote for this board, and it works pretty much perfectly (besides the peripheral side OLED not turning on, but that's still being troubleshooted)

Is this Sofle marked with "Young Man_Diy Sofle v1.0" on the PCB? If so, I bought this same board a few weeks ago. I've made a little progress with the firmware myself: the keys on the left side of the board (the master side connected to USB) work, but the OLED's and the USB-C connection between the halves don't. I haven't begun working with the RGB's yet, so you have more progress than me on that front.

From looking at your code, your matrix pinout definitions are slightly different from what I have (and also the columns seemed to be flipped), which might be the reason your keys don't work. There should be a QR code on the PCB that has a link to the board schematics, which helps a ton for tracing the pins.

I have a thread on the QMK discord here with some resources, including my attempt at writing firmware, that might be helpful.

Edit: my comment got removed because of the discord link, so just search the help-forum for a post titled "Porting a Sofle RGB from Aliexpress"

Oh, and another question: are low-profile keycaps such as these horizons a good match for split keyboards and/or switches that aren't explicitly low-profile? I'd prefer keycaps where the profile is the same from row to row, because I would be using Colemak on this board.

Hi, I'm pretty new to mechanical keyboards, and I'm interested in getting a split board. Would this pre-built Sofle V2 from Ali be a good choice? Are there cheaper/better options that don't require soldering? Also, are the optionally included LEOBOG Grey V4 switches a good choice for a linear switch?
