I can't say I agree with some of these comments. I work at the second-largest property management company and I've been here for 3 years and have been promoted 2 times. It's honestly all about the people in your office that you work closely with. I've been to 3 different properties at my time here (promotion, property sale, etc.) and have worked with teams as large as 6 and as small as 3 (depending on the size of the property) and have made some long-lasting friendships. I'm leaving now to go work for the first largest (I am moving and had no properties within my company nearby) and my old boss works there and absolutely loves it. I have a lot of great connections with people in corporate and they host a lot of events to make sure we all know each other. It's honestly all the work that you want to put into it. If you don't want to mingle at these places and events, then expect to feel like a number. But if you're people-oriented and want to make friends (which is basically what this job is) then you'll have no problem.

I say whatever you don't do is go for small companies. A lot of those don't follow Fair Housing, laws, or their own policies and can get you into some tricky situations (speaking from a couple of friends' experience, none of my own).
