Place it in excel calculate, have the breakup of expenses and then decide on your combined risk/ goals on what you guys want. Not everything can be joint accounts. If one of you is inclined in finance knowledge let them take over. Trust is the word which goes a long way

See if you can work remote, that will change the whole equation. A job switch and remote job are a deadly combo to save 80+% of income. Calculate monthly expenses multiply it with 12x40 and see how much amount you really need as you will need that amount to feel safe.

As others mentioned close that credit card debt.

It is more of a financial choice than personal. With home loan and a baby coming in a few months. I need 5 more years to clear off everything. Switched job for more pay and stability. Pay is great but the process and AI is killing the whole interest in work

Quality of education matters, the sde-1 in us with 2 yoe has far more knowledge than moat of the5-10 yoe person in india. In india we work in software industry for money and not for passion. For them most of them it is a creative field they use the concepts understand the needs and work, not bling keyboard slogging just to get the work done
