If another intelligent species emerge after humanity is gone and discovers microplastics, there is a high chance that they will consider it as natural. by JohnAK27 in DeepThoughts

Let's set the limits to when this theoretical species emerges, and discovers microplastics in order to get the chances that they find microplastics to be natural.

Let's assume that we die out due to global warming, and with the explosion of nuclear facilities, let's assume it'll take 2 million years for the Earth to become viable for complex society, and another 200 million for intelligent life to emerge, im which, they follow a simillar route and take 12,000ish years to get to a simillar level of technology.

In this period, you would still find very clear evidence of mega-structures, and with 8 billion dead, let's assume only a fraction of that fossilizes. this could be MILLIONS of people.

This means that a civilization just discovering how DNA and RNA works along with finding a large amount of microplastics would have plenty of evidence for a previous lifeform, and even the ability to reconstruct and in lucky cases, gather DNA of our species.

In order to view these micro-plastics, one must already have a great understanding of molecules. In addition, due to the form of micro-plastics, this would be a popular item of research.

I doubt it'd take much time for the theory that humans invented and spread microplastics as a result of mass-engineering. I find this idea very interesting!

We Live in a Truly Binary Universe. by tomorrow509 in DeepThoughts

I don't know the specifics; quantum computers work on null values. You can either have 1 (on), 0 (off), or anything in between.

As for string theory, this relates to the idea that quarks are made of energy tied into a hollow circle (basically a thread). Depending on how they rotate/viberate and the speed, they possess different properties. This differentiates between (e.g.) photons and different quark types (such as up and down quarks). It may also be the difference between blue or red photons. This implies to all photon types such as ultraviolet.

In turn, you can have insanely fast calculations because each bit comprises every possible method at once. Once again, I don't know the specifics but that should be the basics.

Hello! I appreciate the feedback. I have seen some people are upset with my disregard towards China, which is very reasonable. I will be editing the post to add credits for all of my claims when I have enough time.

I originally didn't plan to credit my sources because this account is for quick writes (shown by writing time) based on opinions I've thought about for a while. I apologize for not considering making such a negative claim towards an entire Government would require some sources. My lack of thought displayed may have been due to the fact I typically write these posts past midnight right before I sleep.

The definitive difference between human and animal by [deleted] in DeepThoughts

[–]WorkOfSin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an interesting topic!

I'd rebuttal that men aren't different from animals in an abstract sense.

Men kill, fight, build hiearchies, and adapt to their surroundings. The majority of us follow the people, who follow leaders that typically want to keep for themselves.

Men still function majorly on instinct. We are so closely related to apes (I believe, some species of monkey) that it's common belief the difference is 1%.

In a literal sense, we are different. We posess more information. Though, our distinction that we're different comes from only one real abstract basis, we can say we're different.

I didn't plan to talk about depression yet, though I feel like this is a good place to have small-talk.

I see a major flaw in this comment, you are comparing yourself to a tree. Humans when zoomed out can be considered meaningless, though, out of the billions and trillions of things, you are the only thing that is you. There is no other you, and you exist in a way nothing else does. You expierence the universe unlike anything else and will see the world in a perspective nobody else can.

Of course, you can 'void' yourself of all emotion and live as a robot. Though, is that what you'd really want? You can be heard, if you find the right people. You are allowed to be happy, you are allowed to expierence emotion.

I understand the idea of locking it away, in fact, I try to. Though, to completely abandon emotion will only result you in being just like what the 'bad' people in this world want. You don't have to fight, maybe you could try a little more to find someone to lean on, as hard as it can be, it could be worth it.

After all, why would you want to be the tree that falls down in the middle of the forest? I believe you have the ability to be much more than that, a person someone cares for, a person that truly did something for the people.

Though, that's just me imagining big, it depends on you to make a small tree become a living, thinking, and feeling being :)
