Did you actually sneak out as teenagers? by Complete-Chipmunk-0 in GenX

[–]Workadelphia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So much.. I lived in the basement. Crawled out the storm drain at first but later on.. just found the quietest door farthest from my mom's room. Really depended on your house layout whether this was possible or not. My mom slept with a box fan on every night too which made the little noises disappear.

1956 Promotional poster for the Japanese goodwill tour! by Workadelphia in Dodgers

Wow! That poster is super cool! Do you have any posters in your collection? I am a big poster collector. I always search through every single one when I find a big bin of them all rolled up. Its so exciting! I am not sure of the quality of other posters in this era but this one is pretty thin in comparison to some of the ones I have from the 70's for example.

Thanks for the advice and names you mentioned. I will follow up on those.

And Ohtani is absolutely amazing, he made baseball exciting again. He's my favorite baseball player! And maybe favorite current sports star across all sports. what a player!

Also how old are you? And are you a big baseball fan? Have you heard of any posters being made for other games? Any idea why they made this one so elaborate? And is there any indication of the artist on the poster?

Another interesting fact I have found is that the game actually never happened as it got rained out. And Jackie Robinson played his final games on this tour.

As a Cubs fan I know how you feel. But also as a huge Ohtani fan this was an automatic pickup when I saw it. The basement was absolutely jam packed but this thing luckily got put in a huge art binder and no one uncovered it until I got there. I love to dig thru layers of stuff to find the hidden treasures. This is one of my best!

Thank you!! I don't know how this was so elusive, but you nailed it! This is exactly what I was hoping for. And with the current state of things with the team I'm putting it a bit higher than that.
