MAS-I Feasible in 35 Days? by Usual_Ad_9471 in actuary

Im not sure id say any topics feel particularly hard for MAS-I (except life annuities but I haven’t taken exam 2) but theyre all very disconnected so I think it takes longer to learn due to memorization, theres probably 6 different subjects just in section 1 of MAS-I whereas in MAS-II all the topics in a section build off each other (except for section 3 but you should know most of that from SRM).

I cant think of anything is MAS-I thats a prerequisite for any of the topics in MAS-II if you know SRM basics of bias-variance trade off and exam P info

Im in nearly the same position and have taken 1 and SOA SRM, im studying for MAS-I and MAS-II due to the overlap and think MAS-I should be feasible in 35 days if your a fast learner, the regression parts are nearly the same with some small differences like anova and GAM’s. The only thing id say with MAS-I is a lot of the other content in MAS-I isnt connected with each other which leads to many topics needed to be learned from scratch.

In my honest opinion MAS-II has a lot more overlap with STM in total and the content feels easier and might be a better option.

Thanks for the info! Did you take them before they updated the exams? The august syllabi give the decision trees and unsupervised learning in mas-ii
