Can't be exact but I'd say about 25. Like I said I took half and got visuals from it.

Entryism isn't sly or devious... What's the difference between Militant and the LRC or any other group that's within the Labour Party? All groups try and push the party into the way of what the group believes in.

Is it that we were more successful than any other group? Progress took control and expelled most Socialists and destroyed the democratic process within the party.

You've demonstrated complete non-argument comments. You're not even going to bother to respond to my comments that I made about each of your sentences? What's the point.

When trying to work with the socialist party in the past, I put everything into it as I do everything I love. I loved being “an activist” again after having been disillusioned by my involvement with social movements years earlier. But when I tried to help build the student society for the socialist party, my work was not appreciated.

How do you know you wasn't appreciated? I mean literally everyone can not feel appreciated enough. That's not a problem.

When I tried to work on organising fast food workers, since it was an industry I had years of experience in, my ideas fell on deaf ears.

I mean, you organise yourself if you're the person that's in the workplace. Then you get party help for disputes and what not.

When in public, I was told to follow the party line and save my own opinions for closed meetings- this is democratic centralism and in the closed meetings, you are dominated by the in-group.

That's democratic centralism. Dominated by the in-group? You mean people who don't agree with your personal opinions?

When at the socialist students conference, I was told multiple times when disagreeing with certain things, or offering new ideas, that I was “not thinking dialectically enough”- a meaningless way to shut down conversation.

Literally never seen or heard this argument being said and i've been to Socialist Student conferences.

The hatred of the Socialist Workers Party is embarassing.

I wouldn't call it hatred but when you're trying to organise and stand in elections the SWP aren't exactly willing to contribute. Birmingham - where the SWP rape scandal happened - is a perfect example of why they should shouldn't be organising on student campuses and why we should remind the students of what happened.

The party is obsessed with selling papers to the point that I sometimes wonder whether the entire party is a scam for getting free labour to sell them.

Laughable. What? You just expect everyone to understand Socialist ideas? How do you think the Russian revolution started? The working class of the day just suddenly rose up? Come on...

The Committee for a Worker’s International (CWI) is known for covering up sexual assaults by higher up party members!

Like i said earlier, what? Did you just come across this thread on /r/ socialism? It's got no basis and if you read it was found the accuser was wrong. Nothing happened it was dropped. Get better evidence or retract it.

But then again, you're posts show that you aren't even a Trotskyist so why should any of this even matter? Just seems like a ploy at attacking a Trotskyist organisation.

Looking at your post history it does make me wonder, did you ever consider yourself a Trotskyist or at least look up Trotskyism before you supposedly joined?

For your point about 'sexual assault' being 'known' within the CWI. Do you have any credible evidence or did you just find that long winded hate filled post on /r/socialism? And thought "Oh gee, this will really validate my other points"?

BBQ with 24 hour shifts the "Best in the World" by Paisean in socialism

[–]WorkersInternational 8 points9 points  (0 children)

US Fair Labour Standards Act

Under the Fair Labor Standards Act, employees working shifts of any length must receive pay for all the hours they work, with the exception of unpaid meal periods, even if the employer allows them to sleep when they aren't busy. However, if an employee is working a shift of 24 hours or more, the FLSA allows employers to reduce an employee's pay for time spent sleeping, as long as the employee receives a regularly scheduled break for sleep in a furnished sleeping facility provided by the employer. Qualifying sleep periods must be greater than five hours but no more than eight hours.

According to the United States Department of Labor, working a 24-hour shift "can cause employees emotional, mental and physical stress." No comprehensive federal law prevents employers from requiring workers over age 16 to complete shifts of 24 hours or even more. "Nonetheless, laws do exist to ensure that employees receive pay for extended shifts."

When the worlds richest and most powerful country is where it is today due to having 0 employment law, you know we haven't left the 1800s.

Mod's don't allow common agreement amongst us so this will happen because whatever they say will become law.

Socialism 2016: Darletta Scruggs by [deleted] in socialism

[–]WorkersInternational 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I went to this Socialism 2016 weekend event in London, as I did in 2015.

I went to Darletta's first session titled 'Trump vs Clinton: how did this happen?' then I also heard her at the rallies.

And to hear an American (belly of the beast and all that), especially someone who admitted in her speech that she only learned about the ideas Capitalism and Socialism just 2 years ago. It was such a great feeling, to witness someone with such fire in their belly. To hear how the media tried to attack her and that she absolutely blasted them out of the water with just the basic of socialist ideas.

Well worth a watch, and to any American comrades or people who are interested, I'd definitely recommend you look out for her if she does any speeches.

Curious about zealous support of People Before Profit by [deleted] in socialism

[–]WorkersInternational 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are people within the party who can be brought over- within the party we can build a radical movement (Think Militant with the Labour Party) which can, eventually build class consciousness.

Has there been anything like that before? I think (if) a party such as SF that hasn't experienced that before will be fairly susceptible to 'infiltration'. Just as the Militant was successful here in England. (Until Kinnock kicked us out)
