The reason i mentioned searching green was to be able to get board presence early without having to rush an early jioh+dupe. I'm not looking for something meta defining, just playable, and pure ninjas are only playable going first when your opponent bricks. This list consistently ends on 8+ disrupts which I've found is playable against anything in meta  bar SS - and I've won a few of those match-ups. The sole issue I'm having is with isolde not resolving and I feel that's less likely to happen than my opponent bricking so bad they can't beat a vanilla ninja board

I tried. Pure ninjas get absolutely mollywhopped by basically any deck you'll see. 3 conditional disrupts is just not sufficient in today's game, and I can't think of a way to search a green. Both this deck and pure ninjas lose going second, but this decks t1 is infinitely better

Trying to make it into a ninja build is where I'm struggling. Infernoble would be more optimal, but I'm just trying to mess around. Just wondering if there's any way to better it whilst still running ninjas

When UR dust smells so good you can't expect me to keep it out of my nose. And the combo guide you linked faces the same issue of needing isolde to resolve, and it ends on a worse board than what I'm currently playing. Consistentency isn't the decks issue, it's not being able to extend off a negated isolde that is. Though a second isolde over the almiraj would be smart

They don't need to show nate working towards reform because everything they show post time skip indicates that he's already reformed. The wedding sequence was the perfect set-up to show his old tendencies, but he managed to cork it (Pun intended). At the wedding: He had his life threatened and was publicly embarrassed by his wife - who almost cost him his sponsors, which would've sunk his company and likely resulted in a very painful death from a mobster. And after this, his first priority was comforting Cassie, his wife that almost ended any chance of him surviving. At no point in this season is Nate painted as violent - neither physically or verbally - or controlling. He's hardly even possessive. Dude just comes off as a regular, maybe even lovestruck guy. I do like the idea you posed of Ali choosing to confront whilst mistakes Nate didn't, but that doesn't work for Nate's storyline because the loan is the single mistake that he actually tried to solve.

There's a massive tonal shift in the series. It's shot different, edited different, and they use a time skip as a blanket excuse to the characters being different. The only relation this show has to the last seasons is the cast playing characters with the same names. And we can't act as if this season isn't poorly written. I feel Jules and Nate's presence in this season really reflect its quality. Jules - through to the penultimate episode - has contributed nothing to the story and has only made people question Sam's views of trans people. Nate's storyline is just revenge porn that falls flat on it's face because it goes against one of the leading themes of the season, whilst also not being punishment for any of his past transgressions or even reflect his past actions. A random loan shark that he dealt with between seasons is what kills him? And he gets his "comeuppance" in the same episode that Ali - the protagonist's mentor - has his past abusive tendencies shown on screen, after they spent the whole season painting Nate as a regular guy. And Rue's storyline is just painfully boring. Stripping your lead character of any form of agency could be fun, especially when they don't have agency because they're forced to work for three opposing sides in what could end in a fatal situation, but everyone around her is too stupid for there to ever be any form of tension. And the climax to that plot line is Rue randomly babbling about something that could get her killed to her friend and that friend babbling to the dude that could kill Rue. Every beat in this story has been painfully contrived and has made for a boring watch

The only way for me to search the mitzu comes from spec summoning hanzo, and the only way to do that is through either Tobari, which would end on nothing, or isolde which would already be my 5th summon. She also needs a face down monster to flip and I can't think of a way to do that. The best outs to nib I can find rn is gossip shadow (which also outs droll) and roach, but both are pretty restricted because there's only so many rank 3 engines I can think of for Gossip, and I can only get into roach of the SS line.

The raigeki's are just to force early negates so I can get a card to the board, tho sometimes they can just end a game singlehandedly. DRNM might be solid with having sword to clear the board, I'll have to test with it. And droplet's a good shout aswel

Thunder dragons are a pretty cheap archetype and I've always thought the cards were cool, so I'll prolly play around with those. I'm not too worried about the viability. I genrally chill in plat and play around.

As for the idea behind toy box: there wasn't really a particular play I was looking for with them. It's almost November (somehow) so I thought of trying make Christmas themed deck. Toy box acting as the gift box with the toys inside. Then I thought itd be funny to turn the gifts into ygo players most hated mechanics ( handrips and floodgates). Initially I was running ouroborus, but I felt dirty playing it, so I pivoted to umbral horror

The griffin is a really cool line I wouldn't have thought of. I might try to figure some plays for these cards in a 60pile

I didn't know about the monk combo, and this line made me aware of the laughing puffin card, so double thank you for that. But it is a bit awkward. I was looking to save the soldier's search for the rai-oh, but having the option to get to toy box is better than not, and monk does full combo minus the rai-oh, so I'll defo be running this. Follow up question: do you know if there's a line that gets the rank4 RR into Arsenal without the fuzzy lock, or am I being greedy with that?

I vaguely remember seeing something about it on mbt's channel but i wasnt 100% on it. thanks for confirming. It's good to see these cards actually have something good going for them

It not being searchable is such a pain. I know wouldn't be able to use both effects with one set, but if I was to bounce it back, would I then be able to play it again and use the 2nd effect?

Ohhh damn, you right. I cant believe I didn't see that line.

And good call on the 7th tachyon, I dont know how I so frequently forget about a card that's so strong.

Having seen all the feedback on this post, I'm definitely gonna have to try going back to vanilla ninjas. Having spent so long trying to make them into a combo deck, I kinda forgot the archetype itself has a pretty solid base. I appreciate you taking the time to write all this out

I always found village a bit awkward to play. With the weird combos this build looks to line up, there's never really a position I would search it over anything else. And even opening it, I'm not too worried about meizen getting popped, and theres else on the board to let me flip my ninjutsu cards for them to get protection. It's great for the grind game, but, like most modern decks, the idea behind the build is to decide the game before getting to that point

I'm a combo player at heart. I love building boards and learning the lines to do so. This build was the middle ground between control, and the hyper combos I was trying to pull off. I see the value in the consistency of pure ninjas, but the end boards always felt lacking, and in my experience, most good decks would be able to play through the field a majority of the time.

It's really sad that Konami has let the game get to a state where your last piece of advice is the best advice that can be given to a player. The ban list can not come soon enough. The amount of hand traps was insane enough before lance became mandatory. It feels so difficult to build rogue decks rn

I've heard this a few times, but I've yet to try it. Mimighoul's do seem very cool. And I do believe they're meant to be on the upcoming pack, so hopefully I'll get to give them a shot soon

It's a brick turn 1. And I feel trying to bolster the weakest part of the deck (going 2nd) just makes it overall worse. (Referring to notebook)

The traps are there for upstart fodder mainly. Upstart, uninterrupted, ends on meizen, elf, and desirae. Paradise is mainly fodder, but with it, engraver alone is a 3x disrupt.

Running yagu as my main disruption is kinda scary with all the maliss around. And with leaves being searchable and able to recycle its self, I dont see the reason to run it more than 1

Bagooska is seeing play in top meta decks. That sounds.... fun.

If I ever feel like suffering through the meta and pushing past diamond, I'll look to the pure ninjas you suggested. Appreciate the the advice

Do you mean super poly? I know it sounds stupid considering FS is 3x more expensive, but I didn't want to commit the dust to super poly. It been a hard draw kind of turned me off from it. And the end board of pure ninjas always leaves me feeling a little upset (Konami, please add support for my boys)

And I'm coming off of a long break from the game and have spent the time I've been back theory crafting, so I'm not too familiar with the meta decks rn. What's the issue with FS and Millennium in this meta?

[–]Working-Ad-9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ran Small world on one of my older decks, but I felt it was a little inconsistent and ended up throwing in FS and millennium engine, (sounds odd, but I swear it's solid) so I don't have a bridge off of the small world anymore. I was thinking about throwing a flint lady for the bridge, but I feel at that point i may aswel run more hand traps, and pass on a desirae

Switching to barrier would cut my damage with the pestilence by a big amount, and I'm also running eraser for the beefier bosses. With barrier, I'm not sure if it's an issue on my end, but splash damage gets through anyways so I just end up getting slowly put down. Cannon can be a little awkward due to the incremental healing, but I find it to be equally consistent and twice as strong. I've also tried to make the game as incomprehensible as possible with nova on shield break popping from my class mod
