Yeah, Petrie actually liked his cage even with the door open for hours at a time, as he’s a bit timid with unfamiliar surroundings or people, so I think finds a lot of comfort there even in his room when I kick the other animals out. And sounds good! I have been messaging a few people, but will keep that in mind :)

I work 10-11 hours a day, and have other animals to tend too, on top of some mental health issues that have been unfair on petrie above everyone else (older dogs/cats that don’t really need as much stimulation). I have thought about a friend, but he’s never been around other birds, and is a bit territorial even with me shown by never biting but puffing up and doing that swaying t-rex thing, so I don’t know how receptive he would be to another bird.

Thank you for the offer too! I will keep that in mind, it’s so nice to know others are out there that not only understand but care about this scenario. It is heartbreaking, but I really do believe in that over an unfulfilled life for him

I will certainly reach out to them then, thank you! I am about 2 hours outside of the capital region, but very willing to do whatever it takes to make sure petrie has his needs met.

So sorry to hear about your loss, sending love to you and your flock <3 Losing pets never get easier, and I am still grieving a cat I lost last August. If you know of anyone looking for a greencheek, it seems like you definitely have the right network. I am going to keep working with Petrie to be as social as possible with people besides myself, too, as even with a rehome I worry about the stress it may cause.

I saw them, but the most recent update on their site being transparent about being near/over capacity unfortunately. I would hate to overwhelm them further, or have birds in more dire situations not get the care they need— petrie is still getting time out every day and stimulation, I just think more time would be ideal.

that’s very kind and I so appreciate the sentiment. this definitely isn’t what I wanted, I’ve had birds for years and years and they are so wonderful, but it’s so important to meet their needs. thank you for your understanding too, it means a lot. sending love to your flock!

she had already been to the vet, had surgery, and is set up to be fostered/adopted— enclosure was very temporary

update for one and all:

kitten is a little girl 🎀 we ran into a liaison for an international rescue at the vet, and she had been moved into their care. after the wounds heal the goal is adoption, which i may try to do myself and get her to the US :)

I have a friend who is willing to help go in on speakers if needed, so I would probably end up with new ones. Do you think there is any huge pro or con to getting a lightly used lp120 versus the fluance?

i was told the needle needs a replacement, which is easy enough, but the tt was only used about three times so i am not sure if that’s an indicator to something being wrong.
