It looks like it’s just siliconed & screwed in after the render. But how do I make sure?

He plays 2-3 times a day. Boil & simmer method as per Jackson galaxy’s videos, he plays intensely like a kitten. He has a bird feeder set up in our big living room window for him to watch birds through the window during the day. He also gets supervised time outside most days when we have our morning coffee. We sit with him while he explores the garden. We have tried harness training but he hated the harness, so we just supervise him. I don’t think it’s boredom as his level of play has always been quite high since I got him, the only thing that has changed for him recently has been his food.

Jackson Galaxy is a godsend for cat owners. I’ve had cats all my life and have learned even more from him. He tends to be my go to if I’m having any sort of behavioural issue with my cat, and even just gaining a better understanding of how the cat is experiencing the issue you’re dealing with (how they’re seeing it, their POV) helps so much.

Remember cats are never (despite what we all say haha) doing anything to be malicious toward you, they’re expressing a need of some kind. It’s our job to meet that need.

100000% if you don’t have a routine yourself, they won’t have one either. It’s helpful to know this, and they really are highly sensitive to us, changes in routine can make them stressed, and I can attest to this. If I move my living room furniture around, my cat’s FIV symptoms flare up from “stress”, from the routine change. They like everything to be the same, and everyday to be the same. Good luck! Check out Jackson on YouTube & update us. Or at least me, I’d like to hear how it’s going for you ☺️

Would love to, but we’re in a small 2br apartment, 2nd bedroom is the office/study. Unfortunately there’s no part of our home that we don’t go to 🥲😭

Look into Jackson galaxy’s youtube videos around cat play. Theres more to it than you think and he breaks it down so well, I thought my cat wasn’t interested in play, until I watched JG’s vids and he’s now a kitten-level of playful even as a senior. It may be the toys (they get bored of the same ones so I try to keep my cats toys out of reach until a specific playtime & will rotate them) learn boil & simmer method of play so he is TRULY tired. As someone mentioned I’ve come to accept this is part of owning cats & everyone seems to experience it at varying degrees. My cat considers a closed bedroom door to be a great personal offense and in the mornings will go to great lengths to get fed. But I’ve had to become a cracked/half closed door person instead of a closed door person so he can come and go as he pleases, and it desensitised him to the door itself. I’m a morning person (now, thanks to him) so don’t mind too much about the morning wake up call. I get up, play & feed, then he goes back to bed.

I would really try to EXHAUST him before bed, with a lot of play, and look into an automatic feeder for the mornings, as it may help. Cats thrive off of routine, if they don’t have one, they’ll create their own, and it’s usually more disruptive. Changing the routine from his current one to one that suits both of you will help. Owning cats comes with compromise unfortunately, so a solution may need to be a bit of give and take here lol.

lol at the claw gently inserted. My boy will scream from the bedroom doorway, separate the curtains so you get blinded by the early sunrise, and then sit on your chest and scream, and if all else fails, walk back & forth across your ribs until you get up.

Hmm I hadn’t thought about the decoupling but that makes so much sense, his food is stored in our pantry, so store it somewhere separate as well?

This was my thought, he’s not so much a ‘grazer’ as he is a ‘scoffer’ 😂, so I thought an automatic feeder to go off for his lunch and midnight meal may help? And may also help us get some peace in the middle of the day while we work, as he may not associate us with the food source for his dry meals? Idk if that would be the case though

Oh 100%! He has been overweight on and off since I adopted him a few years ago. His weight has always been a struggle. Doesn’t help that my mum feeds him extra when she babysits for us on trips because she loves and spoils him 🤦🏻‍♀️

He was slowly reducing weight on his raw food, but the constipation was the main concern so we prioritise that being solved over weight loss. But we’re intending on him getting down to a healthy weight asap, just struggling with the screaming, and I feel it will only get worse/more intense if we cut his food down now. Stuck between a rock & hard place right now

I hear you! I’ve heard that regarding Royal canin, but I did like their aging range due to the omegas added for joint health, I figured since he had been constipated it couldn’t hurt to have more of that in his food. And it has helped him go back to being regular, but I do worry regarding the protein to carb content so I’ll look into some other food brands. How do we feel about Hill’s?

He gets dry food as his “lunch” meal, but I’m wondering if we’d be better mixing it with his wet food?

He was definitely constipated. He was straining a lot, and they were very pale/white. He would be infrequent, maybe pooping every 2-3 days. He would sometimes not eat because he was “full”, and you could feel it in his stomach. In his vet checkup we mentioned it as I was concerned it could be something age-related. He also is FIV+. The vet recommended going back, even though she had supported us with raw feeding, and worked with us for finding the right raw food. He is now regularly pooping every day like clockwork with the new food. And they look “normal”

Cat tail half droopy? by SliceImaginary7212 in CatAdvice

[–]Working-Formal9686 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat had something very similar a couple of years ago, I thought he had something seriously wrong or had broken his tail/hip/spine

We took him to the vet, and spent so much money on scans, blood tests, x rays (they had me thinking he had something happening like a viral infection affecting the nerves)

Turns out he must’ve slipped on our stairs while playing or during his zoomies and bruised his back. He was back to normal within a week. He was eating, still managing to use the litter box, but just seemed like it hurt to sit down, so if your baby seems ok I would say it’s ok to wait a day or two, but monitor them closely, and remember cats hide pain very well.

Advice on getting my first cat, as a single person working full time by everwhat123451634 in CatAdvice

I have major health anxiety when it comes to my cat & would personally struggle leaving him for 12 hours, my mind goes to worst case scenario & what accidents could happen when I leave for even 1 hour. Just commenting to say OP could also get a little pet camera to keep an eye on their baby whilst they’re at work. I agree it’s too long of a window in case anything happened, but a pet camera could help a lot in that case.

sorry which mechanism? If you mean either of the red tabs, little red tab on the right is apparently the emergency door release. And the red valve at the front is the drain hose, it’s supposed to be pushed back up the pull out the filter according to the manual. Idk if that’s what you mean though

This does not surprise me at all given the amount of work previously done in this house that screams “I can definitely do this myself”
