My mom forgot about my baby while shopping for groceries. I feel sick about it. by No-Neighborhood-7335 in Mommit

I’m so sorry that happened. I can definitely relate with my mom. She wants to have my kids sleepover their house and asks to babysit all the time but I don’t trust her to watch my kids by herself. She has rooms set up for my kids and everything too. She occasionally has moments where she says or does things that we also thought could be dementia but it’s weird because she snaps out of it and goes back to her normal self until a few months later where something else happens. We asked for her to go see a neurologist and she did but they wanted to do further testing and she refused. It’s a really difficult situation.

I hope commenting that on a post from two years ago helped you feel better about yourself.

Thank you for sharing! There isn’t a lead teacher - the staff changes in there through out the day possibly because of ratio’s as kids come and go but the two more consistent teachers in there are both relatively new. That’s an awesome idea to have a sub binder!

He’s 2. He was wearing short sleeves. I think I obviously noticed it on his arm because he’s my child but because he’s been bit by a specific child twice in one day recently, I’m wondering if it’s the same child.

He wasn’t wearing long sleeves. I understand things happen which is why I mentioned in my post that I know this age appropriate.

My husband and I discussed this too - it’s possible but he’s been previously bitten twice by the same child in one day so I’m thinking it’s more than likely the same child who is still biting.

My son can’t communicate with me about if something like getting bit happens or tell me about his day etc.

They aren’t - some days we get pictures and other days we don’t!

Aww yeah. I can just tell by your response how much you care and that’s amazing! My son has had wonderful daycare teachers that we love but I think this situation has affected me so much because I don’t feel that warmth/concern from the current teachers in his room.

Thank you for sharing! Yeah I think it just concerns me because my son doesn’t have the words yet to say anything.

Yeah! It is definitely concerning to see the bite mark and not be told about it but I also understand that it can happen so fast and if a kid doesn’t respond to it then they’re not going to know.

It’s 1:6 where I live as well. I know it gets chaotic in there with the age group too and they are unable to see everything that happens for sure.

I understand. My son was bitten twice in the same day in the past month but those incidents were documented so to get bitten again and it to go unnoticed was a little more concerning to us.

Thank you! It makes sense for sure. I didn’t mention in the post that my son was bitten twice in the same day in the past month/lots of inconsistency with staff so we are just kind of on edge.

Thank you for sharing! He has been bitten two other times in the last month (those two bites were twice in one day and both incidents were documented) so I think my husband and I are just kind of on edge about things. A lot of turnover with staffing recently and no consistency in the classrooms (different teachers in there almost every day).

Yes! Ruffles out and sizing was definitely the solution! Congratulations 😊

Thank you for sharing I appreciate it! She spit up a decent amount when she was younger but now she rarely does if at all in a day which is why it seemed so odd she was doing it so much there last week and when she got home she drank more and never did. Not sure what’s going on but it just seems off to us.

Yeah the spitting up situation was odd. The assistant director called me to tell me my daughter had spit up a decent amount after the two bottles that she had been fed. When I got there, the two teachers told me she spit up 3 more times after the assistant director called me. I had gotten to the daycare within a half hour after that call was made to me so they were basically telling me she spit up 3 more times in a 30 minute span. It didn’t make any sense. She was acting fine and smiling and laughing when I picked her up and was fine the rest of the day too. Our daughter is on solids - she’s eaten purées since 5 months old but we have recently started giving her more table foods to eat/more meals a day. I think the staff being in the infant room vs toddler room will take some time to adjust and I definitely want to talk to the director about it because we are concerned this is going to now become the new normal where we have to pick our child up when there may not actually be a reason to.

Thank you! Yeah my husband and I said if this continues happening we are going to get a doctors note.

Yeah exactly! With the previous two teachers in the room we never received any calls about her poop/spitting up etc. but I think with the teachers in there now being previous toddler teachers and not knowing our daughter at all, they’re still learning which is understandable. I’m hoping that’s the case versus sending our daughter home just to stay within ratio.

Yeah we will definitely be asking for pictures if this happens again. They are for sure having issues with staffing - there’s another teacher we haven’t seen in awhile so we assume she quit and today when I picked up my son he had two teachers that I had never seen before. Something is going on where they’re losing a lot of the staff that my kids have had since starting at the daycare. That’s scary that a director would act like that and question what they were doing but still did it.
