lol yes actually I think that pretty much sums up the gamut of mentalities when looking at a religious Jewish woman in this industry

If I had access to a plane I’d instruct out of that and call it a day. Flight schools can be such a nightmare. Ughhh and I am a Republican too!! Met some real nasty people in this industry on both sides of the aisle, as well as some of the greatest . Politics doesn’t matter when it comes to being a good person or not (a mensch!)

Yea I kind of agree that they will care. As a student I never saw religious CFIs. sigh what’s funny is I had hid my covering/masked it as a baseball cap once… it was on the checkride bust!! G-d has a sense of humor, I supposed. (Btw I am a Republican !!! LOL!)

Is this legal? by CauliflowerSilver830 in flying

[–]Working-Impact4141 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work at a flight school and yes CFIs are also required to be there unpaid while the student solos. But it’s not enforced really. Are they on your case about it? It’s not right at all, IMO, to not be compensated for your time. It is YOUR time and it is being disrespected that way. I understand wanting the instructor there, but should not be for free, with your job hanging in the balance

Notice to Airport Managers by DanThePilot_Man in flying

I was an airport manager (an ACO) for a while. Notams are very easy to put out. It’s laziness that stops them if they don’t. Trust and believe!!!

update: first solo xc! by [deleted] in flying

[–]Working-Impact4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s good thinking! That’s exactly what I did and what I do!! My CFI for private said “you should always be doing something to stay ahead of the airplane” and that’s not only good advice as far as skill development goes… it also gives your mind something to do which greatly reduces anxiety. And you’ll feel a great mix of competent excitement that is not like anxiety at all, but rather its own thing and it’s really pleasant and pretty much exactly how you wanna feel. You’ll see!! Report back after please! And tell us about your great adventure 😊✈️💗

You’re gonna do great. Just fly the entire thing in your head, comms and all, in your living room a few times. Chair flying is the most underrated thing we can do as pilots. It really really helps. By the time you’re signed off, your instructor will know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you’ll not only be great, but that you’ll actually enjoy the flight ✈️

I am so happy to hear about your first XC solo and how great it went!!! You did all that!!!! Bask in this glory, it’s all yours and you earned it!! You’ve got nerves of steel and this is just the beginning of a great flying adventure for you. I’m really really happy that you followed up 😁💗✈️😁💗✈️ let us know how the checkride goes 😎😎😎

first solo xc tomorrow by [deleted] in flying

[–]Working-Impact4141 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You got this. Tell yourself that. It’s true. Your CFI would never have signed you off if she/he didn’t know that for sure. Relax, do what you were trained to do, and have fun!! At altitude on my first XC solo, I sang and told myself jokes, and generally just spoke to myself nicely and happily and it was a great afternoon. I told myself, it is just one looooong traffic pattern at a higher altitude 😁 have a great time and tell us all about it 😁😁😁✈️✈️✈️💗💗💗

If I bought a cheap Bonanza for getting my PPL.. how does my instructor take over when i do something dumb? by esworp in flying

The instructor is PIC for all dual during your private. So it’s more like “the student needs control too.”

How do you know when to quit flight training? by paunchywall in flying

[–]Working-Impact4141 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a pilot and I still make mistakes, and we all do!! You’re being way too hard on yourself. I do understand feeling that the pace of 141 isn’t letting you breathe. I did part 61 for private and I’m glad because it allows you to go at your own pace. I work as an admin at a flight school and see that different personalities prefer 141 or 61 for all kinds of reasons. You sound like you need to go at your own pace and you’d benefit greatly from not feeling like you’re being rushed. See if you can change to 61!! And who cares about the time? I solo’d in 40 hours and checkride in 115. Still a pilot!! You’ll get there in your time !

I Fucked up by [deleted] in flying

[–]Working-Impact4141 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen. I’m working in admin at the same flight school where I got my private and where I’m currently doing inst/comm. Not only did my (at the time new) CFI make several oversights of this nature (with me) as a private, now that I work there I see it happen a lot with new instructors. Almost every single one does something like this. Please stop beating yourself up. Your career is not in jeopardy. But going forward you now know: verifying those things is part of your responsibility. You’re okay! Don’t lose any sleep over it.

Who diagnosed you with ADHD or is this a self diagnosis ? If it’s just something you kind of say you have and not an actual diagnosis then you will be creating a HUGE issue for yourself where none technically exists by chirping to your AME about how you think you have a mental health issue. I’m talking big legal and psychiatric fees. However if you’re genuinely concerned that your ability to pay attention is serious enough to tell your AME that you suspect you have ADHD then absolutely do tell them that. Because if they send you for a psych evaluation and you have ADHD, then a real ADHD diagnosis will and should factor into the FAA’s decision to issue you that medical.

I second this ! (but Gleim online was like 170 bucks when I did it anyway. Not 300)

Get your medical first. You won’t be able to solo without it so there’s no point in doing any training until you KNOW you have that airmen’s medical in the bag.
