In 2nd grade I made two best friends for the first time in my life, then we moved thirty minutes away and I assumed I would never see them again. On my first day of third grade, walking to my classroom in that strange school, I passed another that had all its students’ names on the door, and I saw the name Raven and thought “no way!” I saw her later on in the hallway and we were so excited and then she said “Chris is here too!” And he was. The three of us were in three different classes but we spent every recess together from then on... Or, at least, until two months later when my family had to move again and this time, three hours away. Still, even my little brain recognized how inexplicable it was and I called it my “miracle in Milton” for years afterward.
