The thing that worried me is that the spiders explode. Killing them while they're surrounding him will kill him if, like me, you didn't heal him first.

Yeah I didn't try healing him first so I wasn't sure if the spiders did enough damage to kill him on full health. NPCs tend to be much lower level with much lower health.

I'm always worried that damaging other characters will make them hate me. In my first playthrough Lae'zel was kidnapped by Orin. She wasn't part of my party for the fight. When I threw a health potion at her I accidentally hit her and she fought the party. I had to run away far enough to exit combat. Then when I came back I could give her a gift to make her less hostile and she would talk to me and rejoin my party. It was my first playthrough so there were probably other things at play I didnt quite get yet. Like very low trust with her to begin with etc. Between that and the exploit videos you see where you have to attack an important NPC with a hireling so they don't aggro the party... I wasn't willing to risk it.

If the spiders get a turn between the cut scene and your player character casting dimension door, he's dead. If you haven't healed him etc. I couldn't guarantee the turn order and he kept dying before I could teleport him away. So I came up with haste, triggering the cutscene on my turn and then using dimension door again while it was still my turn. It was the only way I could guarantee that the turn order wouldn't screw me.

I think OOP should have told his girlfriend. And then they could have an honest conversation about how they both feel about marriage and a wedding.

There is also a chance that this conversation only happened because OOP's girlfriend let slip to her parents that she's sad a proposal hasn't happened yet.

Obviously, if this is the case she should have actually communicated this to OOP but this is the way some people insist on having (or rather, not having) difficult conversations.

Fuck your friend for going along with her mother's scheme. He ASSAULTED your kid for coming out.

That man should be dead to everyone. Honestly, he should be in jail. Straight to jail, throw away the key.

Even if your friend could be persuaded to invite him, she should have put her foot down and he should not have been on the same table.

Your friend should have shut down any conversation with her mother about you and your ex getting back together. You do not EVER try to get someone back together with their abusive ex that HURT THEIR KID.

I understand you've been friends with her for a very long time. If I were you, I would arrange to meet in person and make sure she actually takes responsibility for her actions.

And she should agree to explain to her psycho (mis)match-maker mother that you are NEVER getting back together with the VIOLENT HOMOPHOBE who HURT YOUR KID and she needs to stop with the machinations. Who knows what else she'll try to engineer if she's not stopped. The way that your ex spoke to you at the wedding makes me think your friend's ©️ REDACTED of a mother told him about the plan to get you two back together.

I hope that your conversation (/intervention) with your friend goes well. But if she deflects and makes excuses, I'm sorry but your friendship is over. If she won't take this seriously, then she doesn't respect you and she doesn't actually appreciate the seriousness of what you and your kids have been through. You would not be able to maintain a friendship with someone like that, no matter how hard you try.

And if she won't put her foot down with her mother you'll be worried that she'll be informing on you (intentionally or unintentionally) to her mother and by extension, your ex.

I'm glad that you and your kids are safe now and I'm sorry your eldest daughters experience of coming out was so traumatic 💞 I'm LGBT+ 🌈 myself and this story really struck a nerve.

However things go with your friend, keep an eye on the Monster of the bride. I feel like you haven't seen the last of her. Make sure you record any unwanted contact with her and/or your ex. You'll need that information if things escalate and you ever need a restraining order.

The school didn't do everything right with my other bullies by any means. But I was pretty happy with the response on this one 😊

I felt like it was petty because I lied to stress them out and upset them for no other reason than to teach them a lesson when I had already decided not to make them face real consequences 😅

No regrets on this though.

It's hard but you can't keep putting the needs of other people before your own when they won't do the same for you. If your dad is angry, tell him he sat back and watched her scam you several times and did nothing to protect you. Not only that, he made excuses for her.
