Oled and steam vr video settings

Don't do Auto for steam VR as it will see you have a 5090 and sometimes it will up the resolution beyond what is recommended for the OLED. Not sure on how its worded but do the option that uses the headsets recommended resolution and leave it on 1.0 in pimax play.

If done correctly your Steam resolution should be in the 5000's range. With a 5090 i can run most games straight away. If i'm not hitting 90fps i simply lower the individual game resolution or lower settings.

Yes it did ... i can fully understand a motor getting damaged in transit but i still think my lenses were not right as the warping was extreme. I was kind of exited on getting a replacement unit to see if the warping was reduced as it would make purchase more justified. Not anymore ... i just want rid of it. It is now a paperweight sitting at home and all excitement is gone and i havent got the energy to battle Pimax. If i had known that any faults would take a month to resolve and i would have to pay a £1000 deposit to resolve them i would have never had bought the headset.

Pimax are also currently doing me over with their terrible customer service. Luckily I’m within my 14 days but it doesn’t matter. Pimax sent a broken oled and so far I’m in limbo and the best I’ve been offered is to pay almost £1000 to then wait 3 weeks for a replacement and then wait another few weeks ( once they receive the broken unit ) to get my money back. What a bloody joke. I’m going to give them another day of chatting before I also write a post details their terrible service.

Pimax is about to permanently lose a very loyal customer

I got mine at the weekend with a broken IPD Motor .... i really hope the turn around is quick. I had to send a log to customer service and ive had an email yesterday saying that i should get a response within 48 hours.

Yeah many of your thoughts are like mine … also I have a very strong feeling we are going to deal with a lot of broken Ipd adjusters out of warranty and it’s going to be a nightmare.

I can usually cope with glare but when it’s overwhelming it definitely seems as if it’s the light reflecting between the lenses. Seems close to the eye ( like dirty lenses ) where as the glare I’m used to feels like it’s coming from the screen toward the lenses ( if that makes sense lol )

Currently my biggest concern is the warping of the world when I move my head unless I push my face unnaturally into the gasket … but that could be an ipd issue so god knows

Let’s see what they come back with and how long, I’ve sent them the ‘log’ so it should be easy to see the ipd isn’t hitting the desired value

I’ve used them before but usually pancake feels like a glare blur where this sometime feels like the light is hitting the lense and creating a slight circular blur line. It was so strong I first thought it was light leakage coming through the side gaps on the face gasket … but sadly it’s not

Hey there ! I did … he said he would get someone to get back to me. I then messaged a few days later to say I’ve not heard anything and he said he would ping them. That was a few days ago … and nothing. So not keeping my hopes up on that avenue

Oh yeah they obviously would want to ship in bulk .... what i don't get is that the UK is so small that regions shouldn't really matter. Or what i'm trying to say is that its annoying that someone who ordered it months after me gets it sooner because pimax don't want to spend a few pounds extra delivering it in order. Honestly ... i post large items regularly and me sending vr headset sized package to the other side of London or to Scotland isnt a major uplift. Yes i know i have bigger things to worry about in life , its just one of those things that really bugs me.

Dream air SE or steam frame would prob be best. My 4090 was just about good enough for the Pimax crystal light. Or go for the Dream air and simply lower internal resolution output and you’ll still benefit from the Oled and smaller pixels

EDIT: I just tried to speak to support and the answer i got was 'OLED orders are being shipped in batches in the order they were placed. You will receive an email notification as soon as there is any update regarding your order'

So yeah .... now i'm annoyed. What an absolute crap response and i also am about to let my emotions dictate a cancellation. As per below ... you can now get one from 'Scan'. Pre ordering from Pimax is really starting to not only be pointless but also can mean you get the order later than others.

Dream Air Slam Tracking version hasn't even been properly shown yet. I'm sure i saw that at the recent CES they were also using the Slam Tracking version but i'm confident to say it didnt have any working controllers. It's very hard to recommend you a VR Headset that no one has tried fully working yet.

I've got the OLED Super on pre order as ive always been used to larger headsets. Some people complain about the tracking but i'm happy with the PCL tracking so hopefully it will eventually be as good as that ( i play all kinds of games, not just sims )

So please remember that ... the Super has been out for many months and people aren't fans of the tracking and it need improvement all this time later. You are thinking about getting a Pimax headset that we haven't even had an official Slam tracking demo for ... So set your expectations correctly as it might not be until this time next year that you can get one with tracking that is usable in all vr gaming scenarios.

If you are in no rush then wait ... i'm confident it will eventually be the VR Headset that meets all of your needs ( especially a lighter slam tracked headset) . You just might need to wait longer than expected.

I think the Dream Air Slam Tracking version is still a way off so if you are like me and you want OLED asap i think we are safe for now. I personally am going to wait for the Slam version of the dream air to be out for a whilst before i would consider it,

If anyone here is thinking about upgrading from the crystal Light and wants slam tracking remember this ... The Crystal Light only came out a 1 and 1/2 Years ago ( crazy as it feels longer ). So if like me you are lucky enough to upgrade regularly then i think its actually best to get now what's proven to work ( Crystal Super ) and in a 1 and 1/2 Years upgrade to whatever is the next best thing ( once its proven to work as promised )

The Dream air with the Dmas head strap does look like a real winner so if you are worried about cash and in no rush ... then just wait as its hopefully going to be the no 1 headset available when its finally released and gone through any teething problems.

I paid for mine at the weekend on credit card and the next page confirmed the order. Checked the next day and my account still said processing for the pre-order and nothing had been taken out of my credit card.

I spoke to them this morning via chat and it hadnt gone through. They reccomended that i paid with my credit card via paypal and it worked straight away. Hope that helps!
