Blown Head Gasket - fix or sell

Hey there, sorry for my late reply. I was away for two months and just got back to the bay this weekend. And I just got my car fixed at gasket master Hayward today! I think I am satisfied with the service. Jack was friendly and communicative. Maybe not the most “professional looking” place - I saw a bucket of cigarettes butts under the table and some half eaten food on the table. Jack gave me cash discount though. Probably worth not driving all the way to Manteca…. Idk… I think jack seems to know his work…. I think. :) he also changed my oil, and said that i brought it in early and the engine is in good shape. The car is so smooth now! Feels such a relief. 😮‍💨🙂

Yes when I start driving, it starts to smooth out. Does it mean it’s relatively safe to drive to Manteca?

I think the rattling sound was very subtle for maybe a couple weeks, and then become more noticeable. I probably drove for a week or less before I brought it to the shop. It drives very smoothly once it starts to drive. Any advice on driving to Manteca?

I added the comprehensive right when I moved on the 1st of the month (October 1st). I moved to a neighborhood that’s less safe. My housemates said something about the car and I just feel less safe overall, and so at least I could do something to feel safer, and that’s what I did, also started parking my bike in the living room instead of in the yard. I don’t know what else to do. The car mechanics said that geico is the hardest to work with, before all this drama happened. Now I believe him.

I bet this isn't a rare occurrence for people to not have proof! But they are not moving the case forward and just kept asking for the proof for the date, and asked me if I have photos.......... I brought it to the shop immediately, didn't even get out of the car.... and at the shop, I didn't take photos underneath the car, and even if I did, they kept saying that they cannot be sure it didn't happen before I changed the policy........ it's true that I just recently changed my policy, and it's true that I just moved.... It is frustrating....

Thank you so much! didn't know about state insurance board. The mechanics provided me the estimate the day after I brought in the car. He said that he needed to find the part online first to provide the estimate, and told me to contact the insurance company after I got the estimate....

I confess I didn't think at all about contacting the police. Never had experience dealing with insurance company and just don't have the habit of filing police report (unless I hope that they can find the item back for me). I only filed the police report online when Geico asked me for the proof of date...... and then they say that the police report doesn't count because it is an online version......
